Special Award For the Development of the National Cinematograph

Among the main tasks on Ukraine’s way to spiritual revival, as well as its integration into the European space, is developing various spheres of culture and the arts.

Unfortunately, the spiritual and image-making potential of Ukraine’s culture is being underused.  Thus, one of the priorities in the Foundation’s work is providing support for various cultural and art projects and individual artists, personifying Ukraine and presenting it to the world.

In part, in 2003 the Foundation founded a special award for the Development of the National Cinematograph, which will be awarded on an annual basis during the Molodist International Film Festival to outstanding actors and directors who have made a significant contribution into the development of the Ukrainian cinematograph. The award is to serve as a symbol of the society’s gratitude to these people and encouragement for their younger colleagues.

In 2003 director Roman Balayan became first winner of the Foundation’s award in the sphere of cinematograph. In 2004 the award went to director Kira Muratova, and in 2005 – to renowned Ukrainian actress Larysa Kadochnikova. In 2005, the Foundation’s special prize was awarded to renowned Ukrainian actress Larysa Kadochnikova. In 2006 the award was given to founder of the Filmotekhnik Company Anatoliy Kokush. In 2007, the Foundation awarded Head of the State Cinematography Committee Hanna Chmil.
