Doing Good Starts with You Program

In the 2007-2008 academic year the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund jointly with the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine started the Doing Good Starts with You charitable program.

We are certain that this program will be planted on an already cultivated soil, since many schools are implementing charitable programs on supporting senior or disabled people, as well as ecologic and cultural programs. However, we expect this program to further stimulate children’s charitable initiatives.

We wish to help the children realize that doing good is a natural need for any person, while you still have to learn how to do it, as it is with any other work. At that, they have to learn it in a creative and friendly atmosphere, with mutual support, and sometimes in the form of a game of competition.

Organization-wise, the program envisages a contest of charitable projects among schools or single classes, forming a pilot group, implementing the charitable projects by the pilot group, and awarding the winners.

We are certain that the Doing Good Starts with You program will result in developing in children their natural strive to do good, instilling in them humane values, creating at Ukraine’s educational institutions real opportunities for their students to acquire knowledge, skills, and practical experience in charitable activities.

The experience of the program’s pilot stage will be processed by the pedagogical community and will create grounds for implementing a big-scale project in other Ukraine’s schools.

The Ukraine 3000 Fund invites to take part in the program pedagogues and student from all Ukraine’s schools – both those having some experience in charitable work and the beginners.

We believe that, having combined our efforts, vision, and experience, we will be able to revive the traditions of philanthropy and social responsibility in our society.

Expected results of the Program:

  • Consolidating the voluntary charitable movement in schools;
  • Reviving and renewing national charitable traditions;
  • Working out and implementing new forms of doing good;
  • Developing child’s personality, kindness, and positive thinking;
  • Raising a generation willing and able to do good and involve others;
  • Practical help by children to those in need of such help in the process of implementing charitable projects;
  • School involving the community and socially responsible business onto cooperation on charitable activities.

To carry out the set tasks successfully, the Doing Good Starts with You program cooperates with the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Drahomanov National Pedagogical University, Institute for Social Work and Management, representatives of pedagogues’ and students’ organizations, charitable and public organizations, and educational publishing houses.
