NAUKMA Students Research Support Project: Summing Up

June 28, 2008, the awards ceremony was held of the academic research competition among students of the Kyiv Mohyla Academy National University, announced by the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation as part of its Gifted and Socially Active Young People Support program.

The event was held as part of KMANU graduation ceremony, Convocation, which is traditionally celebrated on Constitution Day. Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko sent her greetings for KMANU graduates.

The winner in the Social Research Paper nomination was Anastasiya Voutiuk for her paper, “Art as Method of Social and Psychological Adaptation for People with Special Needs.”

The winner of the Political Science Research Paper nomination was Iryna Shyrokova with her work, “Repressive Medicine in the USSR as a Method to Fight Dissidents (1960s-1980s).”

The winner of the History Research Paper nomination was Svitlana Osypchyk with her work, “The Tale of the Finding of the True and Holy Head of Equal to the Apostles St. Prince Volodymyr the Baptist of Rus’ as a Historical Source on Petro Mohyla Age.”

The winners were awarded with diplomas and money prizes of UAH 2,500.

Another six contestants received the laureate titles and money prizes of UAH 1,000 (Yaroslav Zatyliuk, Yuliya Barska, Yuliya Mysiuk, Svitlana Biedarieva, Tetiana Tretyakova, and Oleksandra Sergeyeva).

In course of the Convocation, renowned theorist of literature Mykhaylyna Kotsiubynska was inaugurated as Doctor Honoris Causa of KMANU and awarded with Mykola Kravets Prize for her contribution into building up the Ukrainian state.

The NAUKMA Students Research Support project is carried out by the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation as part of its Gifted and Socially Active Young People Support program. The project, operating from February till June 2008, was aimed at stimulating students to choose research issues in the areas important for the modern society, giving them an opportunity to work in the Ukraine 3000 Foundation’s programs answering the subject of the student’s research.
