October 20, 2006, as part of her working visit to Donetsk Oblast, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Kateryna Yushchenko visited the Horlivka City Hospital No. 2. Last year, the hospital received from the Ukraine 3000 Fund and International Fund for Medical Cooperation (France) nine hemodialysis apparatuses.
Addressing the hospital staff and patients, Mrs. Yushchenko said, “I am happy that, due to the cooperation between the City Hospital No. 2 and Ukraine 3000 Fund, Horlivka-based nephrology patients have a chance to receive high-quality medical care. I believe Ukrainian doctors to be true professionals devoted to their work, who sometimes have to work under difficult conditions, lacking equipment and finance. We are proud to be able to help the Ukrainian hospitals and doctors to work better.”
Mrs. Yushchenko visited the hospital units where hemodialysis systems are set and nephrology patients treated and talked to the doctors and patients. Besides, she presented the hospital with an icon of the Holy Virgin from the Yushchenko family.
Horlivka Mayor Ivan Zakharchuk decorated Mrs. Yushchenko with a Horliv Golden Medal for a considerable contribution into Horlivka development.
In 2005 the Horlivka City Nephrology Patients Association turned to the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund for support in equipping the city hospital with hemodialysis apparatuses and improve the performance of the hemodialysis systems. In spite of the fact that the Fund works primarily with children’s hospitals, the request wasn't left unanswered. In the fall of 2005 the Ukraine 3000 Fund and International Fund for Medical Cooperation (France) provided nine hemodialysis systems for the Horlivka City Hospital No. 2, and a few months later a high-quality water purification system for hemodialysis, allowing the hospital to open an additional hemodialysis unit.
