Mini festival dedicated to Arseny Kotliarevsky’s 100th anniversary will be held as part of the Organ Revival project
May 21-23, 2010, a mini festival dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Arseny Kotliarevsky (1910-1994), the founder of the modern Ukrainian organ school, renowned organist, pedagogue, and musician, will be held at Lviv Organ and Chamber Music House’s concert hall.
The festival will be held as part of the Organ Revival project by Friends of the Organ Music and Arts Charitable Association. This project was among the finalists of the Ukraine 3000 Foundation’s Program to Support Small Culture and Art Projects.
Arseny Kotliarevsky was an outstanding Ukrainian musician, organist, and pedagogue, the founder of the modern Ukrainian organ school. In 1980 Kotliarevsky founded the Republican (now National) Organ and Chamber Music House in Kyiv, whose director he was. A number of talented concerting organists in Ukraine were his pupils and progenies.
The Organ Revival project was timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the birth of Arseny Kotliarevsky.
The festival will feature performances by Ukrainian organist, representatives of the organ school founded by Kotliarevsky: Merited Artiste of Ukraine Olha Dmytrenko (May 21), Meritred Cultural Worker of Ukraine, head of an organ class, professor with Tchaikovsky National Musical Academy of Ukraine Halyna Bulybenko (May 22), and People’s Artiste of Ukraine, soloist with the National Organ and Chamber Music House Iryna Kalynovska (May 23) at Lviv Organ and Chamber Music House.
Concerts begin at 6:00 p.m., free admission.
