Natkhnennia All-Ukrainian Modern Young Theaters’ Competition Held in Donetsk, Supported by Ukraine 3000 Foundation
November 28-20, the Natkhnennia [Inspiration] All-Ukrainian Modern Young Theaters’ Competition was held in Donetsk with the support of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation. The event, organized by EcoArt Donetsk City Youth Arts Center, has won a grant within the framework of the small arts and cultural projects support program.
The festival’s objective is developing and supporting Ukrainian creative youth, exchanging cultural and artistic attainments, familiarizing Donetsk oblast audience with classic and modern Ukrainian plays.
For three days Donetsk city residents and guests could enjoy performance by theater troupes from all Ukraine’s regions on the Yunist Donetsk Youth Palace Small Stage.
Suzirya Kyiv Academic Theater Workshop presented Lesya Ukrayinka’s poetic drama, On the Battlefield, HaRmYdEr theater (Lutsk) – Valery Herasymchuk’s modern drama, Cicuta for Socrates, Yunist group (Horlivka) – Fishwives after Hryhory Kvitka-Osnovyanenko’s novelette of the same name, Dakh Theater (Avdiyivka) – Autumn and Love. Donetsk was represented by Oh! Music and Drama Theater with their Corrida performance, Yuz – The Cave mono show after Yevgeny Zamyatin, and the Fourth Floor People’s Theater Studio with Cuba, My Love by Barteniev. Kharkiv was represented by KotelOk Theater Studio with Daemons show and Theater for People with The Witch (after Gogol’s Viy).
The festival featured a master class on plastic arts (with the participation of the panel member, renowned theater director Volodymyr Kuchyncky) and a round table Modern Trends in the Ukrainian Young Theater Development in the Economically and Politically Unstable Period.
