SSU Presents Open Electronic Archive
October 2, 2008, the Grand Hall of the Security Service of Ukraine hosted a presentation of its Information Hall, an open electronic archive of the documents preserved at the SSU archives. Executive SSU Head Valentyn Nalyvaychenko, Head of the State Archive Committee of Ukraine Oleksandr Udod, and Advisor to Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Andriy Myroshnichenko were present at the event.
Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko sent here greetings to SSU on the occasion of the Information Hall inauguration. “We are proud with how you, step by step, reveal to the public new information of the unknown and misinterpreted pages of our past, working, first and foremost, based on the principle of transparency,” the address reads.
The Information Hall presents digital copies of the documents related to the Soviet security bodies’ activities during the Manmade Famine of 1932-1933, the OUN-UPA liberation movement, mass repressions, and dissident movement in Ukraine. At present, the Hall has eight work stations, accessible to scholars, journalists, students, and anybody who wants to know the true history of the Ukrainian people.
Recall that in 2006 the Ukraine 3000 Foundation and Security Service of Ukraine signed the Memorandum on Cooperation, following which, the Declassified Memory GPU-NKVD documents collection was published in 2007.
