The Ukraine 3000 Foundation Announces Journalists Contest for Best Coverage of the Manmade Famine of 1932-1933 in Ukraine

In connection with the 75th anniversary of the Holodomor Manmade Famine of 1932-1933 in Ukraine, the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation, as part of its History Lessons: Holodomor of 1932-1933 program and basing on its Expert Council recommendations, announces the Third annual Journalists Contest for Best Coverage of the Manmade Famine of 1932-1933 in Ukraine.

The contest will continue throughout year 2008. Staff journalists and freelancers with printed media, television, and radio channels are invited to participate.

The main goal of the Contest is revealing true information on the twentieth century’s tragedy to the people of Ukraine, highlighting the Holodomor in mass media, and involving broad public into commemorating the Holodomor victims in all Ukraine’s regions.

The condition for participation in the contest is publishing in printed media or aired on TV or on the radio from January 1, 2008, till November 3, 2008, of TWO or more materials  authored or co-authored by the participant.

Contest nominations:

Publication on the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in periodical media;

  • film (featured or documentary) on the said theme;
  • radio show dedicated to Holodomor of 1932-1933;
  • specialized web site or its section.

The winners will receive money prizes.

First prize  – 3000 hryvnias.
Second prize – 1500 hryvnias.
Third prize  –1000 hryvnias.

The most active participants will be awarded mementos and encouraging prizes.

The results will be summarized and announced on December 11, 2008.

Media outlets most actively covering the Holodomor in the said period will also be celebrated.
