Ukraine 3000 Foundation Presents the Executed by Hunger: Unknown Genocide of the Ukrainians Exhibition in Vilnius
May 12, 2008, the Genocide Victims Museum in Vilnius hosted the unveiling of the Executed by Hunger: Unknown Genocide of the Ukrainians exhibition, prepared by the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation. The ceremony was attended by President Viktor Yushchenko of Ukraine, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko, and President Valdis Adamkus of Lithuania.
The Executed by Hunger: Unknown Genocide of the Ukrainians exhibition was created to reveal the truth about the Manmade Famine of 1932-1933 in Ukraine to the global community. The exhibition has already traveled Brussels, Berlin, Geneva, Washington, and all Ukraine’s oblasts. Its special feature is that the archive documents on this horrible crime of the totalitarian regime are corroborated by witness accounts of the Holodomor survivors.
The exhibition is divided into four thematic parts. The first part, Ukraine before the Famine, showcases Ukraine’s natural wealth to show the manmade nature of the famine. The second part narrates about the causes and reasons for the famine, the major one being Stalin’s and his accomplices’ desire to destroy the Ukrainians’ national spirit. The third part reveals the mechanism of Holodomor, and the fourth – describes the international recognition of this tragedy of the Ukrainian people.
The Executed by Hunger: Unknown Genocide of the Ukrainians exhibition will be displayed at the Genocide Victims Museum till the end of May 2008.
The distinguished guests also took a tour of the Genocide Victims Museum and laid flowers to the memory sign to the genocide victims.
Mrs. Yushchenko is accompanying her husband, President Viktor Yushchenko of Ukraine, on his official visit to the Lithuanian Republic. Earlier she has met with wife of the President of the Lithuanian Republic Mrs. Alma Adamkene and Minister of Culture of the Lithuanian Republic Juozas Chirvinskas.
