Ukraine 3000 Fund and Luhansk Oblast State Archive Present Holodomor in Luhansk Oblast: 1932-1933 Research and Documentary Publication
February 20, 2008, the Holodomor in Luhansk Oblast: 1932-1933 collection of research papers and documents, published by the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund and Luhansk Oblast State Archive, was presented in Luhansk. The event, hosted by the Luhansk Oblast State Archive conference hall, was attended by Head of the Luhansk Oblast State Administration Oleksandr Antipov, Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine in Luhansk Ihor Maystrenko, Deputy Head of the Internal Affairs Ministry in Luhansk Oblast Oleksandr Fefielov, Head of the Board of Directors of Ukraine 3000 Fund Oleksandr Maksymchuk, Ph.D. in History Prof. Valentyna Borysenko, and Expert with the Cultural Programs Dept. at the Ukraine 3000 Fund and Coordinator of the Lessons in History: Manmade Famine of 1932-1933 Olesia Stasiuk.
Mr. Maksymchuk briefed those present on the Ukraine 3000 Fund activities in Holodomor research. In part, he described the Executed by Hunger: the Unkknown Genocide of the Ukrainians exhibition presented in Belgium, Germany, and Switzerland.
Mr. Antipov said that the value of this publication was defined by the fact that all Luhansk oblast residents would be able to discover the truth about Holodomor in their oblast. He said that, with the support of the Luhansk Oblast State Administration, an added edition of this book would be published and distributed among the oblast educational institutions.
The Holodomor in Luhansk Oblast: 1932-1933 collection of research papers and documents was published in 2008 by the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund and Luhansk Oblast State Archive. The collection includes 143 documents from state archives of Luhansk and Donetsk oblast, SSU special archive, and photographs of the 1930s from the Pshenychny Central Archive of Video and Photo Documents of Ukraine. The book also features press coverage of the 1932-1933 events in local newspapers. Besides, the publication contains photo documents and feedback from visitors at the Declassified memory exhibition of the SSU archive documents. This is the first regional collection of documents on Holodomor, published in Ukraine in pursuance of the presidential order On Measures Connected with the 75th Anniversary of the Manmade Famine of 1932-1933 in Ukraine.
