First Issue of the Ukrainian Museum Bulletin for 2008 Comes Off the Presses
The first in 2008 issue of the Ukrainian Museum informational bulletin was published. By a tradition, this issue is dedicated to urgent issues in museum work and adjacent areas.
The major topic of this issue is description of the Ukraine 3000 Fund’s and Ukrainian Center for Museum Development’s museum projects for 2008. In part, it features announcements of the start of the Program to Support Museum Workers for 2008-2009 and the Museum Event of the Year Third All-Ukrainian Action.
The bulletin also contains information on museum-related books from Russia and the US, arriving to the book depository of the museum library, which is being created on the initiative from the Ukrainian Center for Museum Development and sponsored by the Mandarin Plaza Ltd. (Head of the Supervisory Board – Vahif Aliyev).
The Preserving Cultural Heritage section features an article dedicated to the draft law On the List of Cultural Heritage Monuments Exempt from Privatization. The monitoring carried out with the participation of leading cultural monuments champions from Kyiv and regions revealed the flaws of the draft law and the fact that its adoption would endanger the historical, cultural, and architectural heritage.
One can also find in the bulletin information on Turkmenistan museums, preparations for the Second All-Ukrainian Museum Festival (September 2008, Dnipropetrovsk), training programs abroad for museum workers, etc.
The Ukrainian Museum informational bulletin is the only professional publication distributed freely among Ukraine’s museum workers. Founded by the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund, it is being prepared jointly with the Ukrainian Center for Museum Development.
The electronic version of the bulletin can be found at the Ukraine’s Museum Web Portal.
