Ukraine 3000 Fund Announces Start of the Museum Event 2007 All-Ukrainian Action

The Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund together with the Ukrainian Center for Museum Development and the National Television Company of Ukraine announce the start of the Third Museum Event of the Year All-Ukrainian Action.

This program is planned to select the biggest attainments and challenges defining the society’s attitude toward the museums and museum business in 2007.

The major criterion for selecting winners is the event’s social meaning, public response, influence on the national museums’ life and feedback in the last year. Recall that this event can be a show, an important publication, or even a museum robbery.

The selection will consist of two stages. In the first stage (February 10 – April 10, 2008) any person or organization can send their proposals to the organizing committee regarding the museum events and attainments, deserving national recognition.

The events have to meet two formal criteria: 1) be held in 1007 and 2) be organized, hosted, or carried out by a Ukrainian museum or museum worker. The application should include an account of the event, place and time, participants, contacts, etc. Photographs, media publications, and other additional information is also welcome.

The Organizing Committee will carry out preliminary selection in working order and form a list including all events and projects answering the formal criteria.

In the second stage (April 10 – May 10, 20087), the list will be sent to a wide range of experts, who will define the most outstanding museum events of 2007 in Ukraine through preferential voting.

The experts will be directors and staff members of the leading museums, journalists writing on culture, public figures, officials dealing with the museum business, people’s deputies from the specialized VR committee, heads of the specialized institutes at the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, etc. In total, we are planning to interview 70 to 80 experts.

In forming the expert group, the organizers will be guided by experts’ standing in the museum community and level of their competence. The organizing committee will try to preserve a reasonable ratio of professionals and public representatives, as well as equal representation of all regions.
