Ukraine 3000 Fund Members Attend the 140th Anniversary of Kyiv Glier Higher Musical School Celebration
January 18, 2008, Deputy Director of the Culturological Programs Dept. at the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Vladyslav Pioro took part in the ceremony dedicated to the 140th anniversary of Kyiv Glier Higher Musical School. The Ukraine 3000 Fund is the School’s partner in the Horowitz Memorial Young Pianists Competition, one of Ukraine’s signature events in the cultural area.
At the ceremony, Mr. Pioro read out a greeting letter to the School’s students and faculty from Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Kateryna Yushchenko. “We are proud that our country can boast an art workshop of such level. Your work proves that Ukraine has unique performing traditions and is able to preserve and develop them,” the letter read.
The Kyiv Glier Higher Musical School, one of Ukraine’s oldest and most respected musical schools, was founded January 18, 1868. Among its alumni were many renowned musicians: pianist Volodymyr Horowitz, pianist and composer Leonid Nikolayev, renowned Russian composer Ilya Sats, Ukrainian composers Levko Revutsky, Pylyp Kozytsky, Heorhy and Platon Mayborodas, choir conductor Pavlo Muravsky, musicologist Boleslav Yavorsky, outstanding singers Mariya Lytvynenko-Volgemut, Dmytro Hnatiuk, Diana Petrynenko, and many others, bringing their contribution to the treasure trove of not just Ukrainian but also world culture.
The Ukraine 3000 Fund and Glier Musical School have been cooperating since 2005.
