Executed by Famine: Unknown Genocide of Ukrainians Exhibition to Open in Brussels
March 27, 2007, the Executed by Famine: Unknown Genocide of Ukrainians will be unveiled at the European Parliament headquarters in Brussels.
The exhibition was organized by the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund as part of the Lessons in History: Manmade Famine of 1932-1933 program, with the participation of the Ukraine’s Representation at the EU and with the support of the European Parliament deputies K. Chymansky, Ch. Tennock, Marek Siewec, and R. Harmes.
The exhibition displays documents and photographs of the period along with witnesses’ accounts. The Holodomor: Technology of Genocide documentary, created by the Ukraine 3000 Fund jointly with the National Television Company of Ukraine, will be shown at the exhibition.
The exhibition and its presentation at the European Union were aimed at informing the EU MPs on one of the most dreadful pages of Ukraine’s history, the Holodomor manmade famine of the 1932-1933, artificially organized by the communist Stalin regime. The visitors will see exhibits, vividly narrating the tragedy of the Ukrainian people.
Soon the European Parliament is to hold hearings and voting on recognizing the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainians. The organizers believe that the exhibits on display will convince the deputies to vote for the respective resolution.
Every visitor will be given a pot, one-third full of rye, as a keepsake.
