Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Presents Its New Project, Cossacks’ Fame for the Little Readers
February 27, 2007, the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund presented its new project, Cossacks’ Fame for the Little Readers. Head of the Fund’s Supervisory Board Kateryna Yushchenko, Advisor to the Head of the Supervisory Board Andriy Myroshnichenko, Head of the Board of Directors Oleksandr Maksymchuk, Head of the Poltava Oblast State Administration Valeri Asadchev, Director of the Poltava Oblast Scientific Library Tetiana Zelenska, and Director of the Poltava Oblast Children’s Library Leonid Chobitko took part in the presentation, hosted by the Poltava Oblast Kotliarevsky Scientific Library.
The Cossacks’ Fame for the Little Readers project envisages presenting the Ukraine’s Hetmans books to schools in Poltava, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv oblasts. The book contains an intense and captivating story of our country in the Cossacks’ times, is richly illustrated, and is intended for junior and secondary schoolchildren, as well as all readers striving to learn more about Ukraine’s history.
In course of the event, Mrs. Yushchenko handed over certificates for obtaining 1000 copies of the Ukraine’s Hetmans to the Head of the Poltava Oblast State Administration and representative of the Poltava Oblast Scientific and Children’s Libraries. The book will be distributed among Poltava oblast schools and libraries.
Addressing those present, Mrs. Yushchenko said, “The year 2007 was announced the Year of the Book in Ukraine, which makes me even more happy to give the children a chance to discover vivid pages of our history precisely this year. I hope this present will prove useful for many children and will help them to take a view of Ukraine’s glorious past.”
Mrs. Yushchenko also presented the Poltava Oblast Scientific Library a book set from the “Foreign Classics in Ukrainian” series. In their turn, the library representatives gave her the Fancy Drawing album by Poltava-based avant-gardist painter Serhiy Hnoyovyk.
Besides, Mr. Asadchev handed over to Mrs. Yushchenko a present from Poltava oblast, a five-volume History of Poltava Region. Director of the Poltava Oblast Children’s Library Leonid Chobitko gave her Eneyida by Ivan Koyliarevsky and a catalogue of Poltava children’s paintings dedicated to the Manmade Famine, titled Remember your Kin, along with a postcard handmade by Poltava children.
After the ceremony Mrs. Yushchenko was given a tour of the library and talked to its workers and visitors.
Mrs. Yushchenko has arrived to Poltava for a one-day working visit, whose agenda includes visiting Poltava’s medical and educational institutions. Besides, Mrs. Yushchenko is to take part in the Education of the Future Through the Eyes of the Young roundtable to be held at the Poltava Consumers’ Cooperation University.
