October 18, 2006, the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund and Ukraine’s Security Service signed the Memorandum on Cooperation to publish a collection of documents related to the Manmade Famine of 1932-1933.
Head of the Board of Directors of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Oleksandr Maksymchuk, Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Ihor Drizhchany, Director of the Security Service State Archive Serhiy Bohunov, and Head of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Yesterday Area Oleksiy Kopytko took part in the signing ceremony.
The Memorandum envisages joint action aimed at discovering, making public, and studying the documents referring to complicated pages of Ukraine’s history. The first step in Ukraine 3000 – Security Service cooperation will be a joint publication of a collection of documents from the SSU archives in both printed and electronic versions, timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the Manmade Famine of 1932-1933.
The book will feature most interesting rules and regulations, statistics, and archive investigative documents, revealing formerly unknown pages of the Famine History or essential for a more accurate interpretation of the known facts, events, and phenomena. The CD will also include an enlarged list of documents, not included into the collection but potentially of interest to the experts.
In accordance with the Memorandum, a working group will be created to prepare a draft plan-prospect of the collection in one-months term and submit it for both parties’ approval.
To secure an expert examination of the project and richness of content of the printed and electronic versions, an editorial board and editorial committee will be created, engaging competent scholars and public figures specializing in the Manmade Famine.
Both parties agreed that consolidated effort of the society and the state in restoring the historical justice and honoring the Famine victims will further overcoming negative aftereffects of the Manmade Famine on the level of national self-consciousness.
