Innovative Intellect of Ukraine All-Ukrainian Youth Contest

Creating preconditions for the economic and social self-actualization of the young people in Ukraine and stopping the brain drain, which had recently grown into an epidemic, is a moral duty for the government, business, and public organizations. Thus, the Ukrainian society has to create favorable conditions and secure forward motion of the young, using various mechanisms and tools, one of which is looking for and supporting gifted young intellectuals.

To give a chance to the thousands of educated, talented, and enterprising young people to fulfill themselves in Ukraine, the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund launched the Innovative Intellect of Ukraine All-Ukrainian Youth Contest.

The contest is held in three nominations:

• Scientific research on economic and humanitarian subjects.
• Business ideas.
• Social projects.

The winners of the research papers’ contest are selected in three age categories:

• First age category – high school students.
• Second age category – students of colleges of 1st-4th accreditation level.
• Third age category – postgraduates, professors, researchers, aged up to 35.

The First Ukraine's Innovative Intellect All-Ukrainian Youth Contest was held from November 8, 2006, till January 20, 2007. Almost 900 works from all Ukraine’s oblasts were submitted to the contest, with the biggest number of papers (170) coming from Poltava oblast. The awards ceremony took place April 14, 2007, as part of the National Youth Forum, with over 250 winners and runner-ups of the regional eliminating stages of the contest taking part in the Forum.

After the first contest was finished, the Ukraine 3000 Foundation organized a series of events with the participation of its winners and participants. In part, the Youth Educational Summer School was held July 6-13 at the Modus Youth Health Center.

April 15, 2008, the Second Ukraine's Innovative Intellect All-Ukrainian Youth Contest was announced. The competition, continuing till January 15, 2008, was held with the support of the Secretariat of the President of Ukraine. Almost twice as much papers were submitted as to the previous contest – 1 608. The absolute leader was again Poltava oblast (307 papers), with second and third places in terms of the number of submitted works taken by Kyiv and Kyiv oblast (114) and Kharkiv (100).

Starting with the second contest, a number of special propositions, presents, and prizes were introduced by the partners: Artek ICC, Aktsiz international magazine, Ukraine’s Young Leaders’ Forum, Intel Corporation, businesses and public organizations of Ukraine.

March 20-25, the results of the regional selections were summed up. March 28-29, all claimants to the prizes gathered in Kyiv, defending their papers before the National Contest Committee. March 29, the Innovative Intellect of Ukraine National Youth Forum and the awards ceremony were held.

October 24, 2008, the Third Ukraine's Innovative Intellect All-Ukrainian Youth Contest was announced.
