Ukraine’s Innovative Intellect National Youth Forum Held at Drahomanov National Pedagogical University
April 23, 2010, Drahomanov National Pedagogical University hosted the Ukraine’s Innovative Intellect National Youth Forum. The Forum is the closing stage of Ukraine’s Innovative Intellect All-Ukrainian competition, held by the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation for the fourth time.
Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko, People’s Deputy of Ukraine Lesia Orobets, Vice President of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine Volodymyr Luhovy, participants and winners of Ukraine’s Innovative Intellect competition took part in the Forum along with representatives of central and local authorities, the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, pedagogical community, governmental structures, and business.
“Our competition is not a remote test for knowledge,” Mrs. Yushchenko said, addressing the audience. “We don’t have an intellectual competition here. We look for talented young people who not only understand social problems. Not only propose ways to solve them , but also want to take an active part in solving them.”
Mrs. Yushchenko pointed to the positive dynamics of the Ukraine’s Innovative Intellect competition. “The number of participants has increased more than twofold compared to the first competition,” she said. “The competition embraces all Ukraine’s regions; among its participants are students of hundreds of schools and colleges. In the four years of its existence, the competition has acquired dozens of regional and national partners, making it really national and large-scale.”
Speaking about the competition’s prospects, Mrs. Yushchenko, in part, mentioned the creation of a distance youth analytical center, which would accumulate constructive and original ideas, proposed by the competition participants. “Your works are great. I have looked through many of them,” she said. “We would like to give fee access to all willing to the works submitted this year and in the previous years.”
Among other speakers were Vice President of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine Volodymyr Luhovy, People’s Deputy of Ukraine Lesia Orobets, Head of the Students’ Republic NGO Pavlo Vikniansky, Head of the Talented Youth Alliance Serhiy Terepyshchy, First Pro-Rector of Drahomanov NPU Volodymyr Bech and others.
Participants and guests of the Forum took part in a discussion, How can we form an effective mechanism for support of talented youth? The forum also featured presentations of government programs, public and social projects aimed at supporting gifted young people.
The second part of the event will feature the awards ceremony of Ukraine’s Innovative Intellect Fourth All-Ukrainian competition.
