For two days the Forum participants had been discussing the White Book of National Education project at sessions and conferences. At the closing plenary session, the Forum’s work was summed up and proposals regarding the White Book voiced.
Vice President of the APS Volodymyr Luhovy, head of the group developing the first part of the White Book, said that the Forum participants approved both versions of the document and proposed to translate it into Russian and English. “I am convinced that the White Book will come in handy for working out and implementing the educational policy our country needs so badly,” he said. Volodymyr Luhovy quoted some of the proposals offered in course of the discussion.
The sessions and conferences were summarized by their moderators. They described the issues touched upon and discussed at the sessions and summarized their participants’ views on the White Book. In part, they proposed a third version of the document, conveying children’s viewpoint on the modernization of education.
The Forum participants proposed to conduct a public discussion of the White Book project, involving international experts. This idea was voiced by Viktor Hromovy, head of the group developing the second part of the White Book.
Kateryna Yushchenko thanked the Forum participants for their fruitful work. “I’m glad to see that every year we become more concrete and practical in our advices,” she said.
Mrs. Yushchenko mentioned the need to conduct a forum for educational publishing houses, inviting representatives from other countries to exchange experience. She also emphasized the need for a separate forum on informational technologies in the educational process.
“We are waiting for your ideas and advice,” Mrs. Yushchenko said.
