Kateryna Yushchenko Visits Dniprodzerzhynsk Orphanage
June 10, 2009, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko visited oblast orphanage in Dniprodzerzhynsk.
The orphanage hosts 60 children aged from 0 to 4, providing medical aid and social protection to orphaned children, those deprived of parents’ care, and children with impaired mental and physical development.
For five years the institution has been receiving charitable aid from students of Dniprodzerzhynsk School No.11. Girls sew clothes for the orphanage wards at their shop classes. Also, the school works on establishing permanent contact with the orphanage’s faculty and wards. This project, Children to Children, was this year’s winner in the Doing Good Starts with You competition, held by the Ukraine 3000 Foundation for the second time.
Accompanied by head physician of the orphanage, Mrs. Yushchenko toured the premises, visiting group rooms, admission department, and exercise therapy room. Mrs. Kateryna talked to the orphanage wards and staff members.
Orphanage wards and students of the School No. 11 gave a small concert at the playground to honor the distinguished guests. The students also presented their Children to Children project.
Mrs. Kateryna thanked both the little and elder children for the wonderful concert. “Thank you for your great gift of doing good,” she said.
Speaking about the Children to Children project, Mrs. Yushchenko said that if it had been the only project submitted to the Doing Good Starts with You competition, one could have said that the contest’s goal had been accomplished. “You should be a role model not only for children but also for adults,” Mrs. Kateryna said.
On behalf of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation, Kateryna Yushchenko passed over to the orphanage a mini system, books, and toys. Students of the School No. 11 received certificates for a tour to Artek – their prizes for the victory in the Doing Good Starts with You Second All-Ukrainian charitable projects competition.
Among other participants of the event were Head of the Dniprodzerzhynsk Oblast State Administration Viktor Bondar, Head of the Chief Health Care Administration of the Oblast State Administration Valentyna Hinzburh, Head of the Chief Administration for Edcuation and Science of the Oblast State Administration Viktor Sytchenko, Dniprodzerzhynsk Mayor Yaroslav Korchevsky, Head of the Board of Directors of Ukraine 3000 Foundation Oleksandr Maksymchuk, representatives of oblast and city authorities and Ukraine 3000 Foundation.
