Ukraine 3000 Foundation Awards Winners in the Second Innovative Intellect of Ukraine All-Ukrainian Youth Competition
March 29, 2008, the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation summed up the results of the Second Innovative Intellect of Ukraine All-Ukrainian Youth Competition. The final part of the competition, hosted by the Kyiv Ukrainian House, featured the Innovative Intellect of Ukraine National Youth Forum and the awards ceremony.
Among the participants in the event were Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko, Minister of Ukraine for Education and Culture Ivan Vakarchuk, Minister of Ukraine for Family, Youth, and Sports Yuri Pavlenko, Deputy Head of the Presidential Secretariat Andriy Honcharuk, President of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine Vasyl Kremen, Director General of the Artek ICC Borys Novozhylov, renowned scientists, representatives of the state, Ukrainian and foreign public organizations, and over 250 winners and awardees of the Second Innovative Intellect of Ukraine All-Ukrainian Youth Competition regional selections.
All speeches at the National Youth Forum were dedicated to a key theme, forming an efficient mechanism of public support for the intellectually gifted young people.
Opening the discussion, Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko greeted the Second Innovative Intellect of Ukraine Competition finalists and said they were the Ukrainian elite. She thanked them for their interesting papers, demonstrating the high level of their education and full of true patriotic feeling. Mrs. Yushchenko added that she had read the papers dedicated to charity and social projects with great interest. “I deal with charitable projects on a daily basis, and still I was able to find new ideas and plans in your works,” she said. “These are great ideas, and we’ll do everything to support them.”
Speaking about the support to the gifted young people, Mrs. Yushchenko said that, though it is rather considerable in Ukraine, it lacks a systemic approach. She proposed to give talented young people a chance to undergo training at the state bodies and business facilities, as well as charitable organizations. Mrs. Yushchenko also placed high emphasis on communications between the gifted young people, in part, through round tables, forums, and internet communities.
Mrs. Kateryna wished all present optimism, persistence in pursuing their goals, active life stand, and responsibility, expressing her hope that they would preserve the patriotic feeling they had demonstrated in their papers.
Minister Vakarchuk said that such competitions help to reveal young talents, who thus win their first victories and receive an impetus to proceed with their activities. Minister gave a special notion to the youngest participants of the contest and wished them to preserve their eagerness in exploring the world around them.
Minister Pavlenko said that most of the subjects broached in the submitted papers coincided with steps initiated by his ministry. He turned to the Ukraine 3000 Foundation with a request to let him familiarize himself with the works submitted to the contest, so that he could propose for implementation those fitting into the ministry’s programs. Also, the minister invited the contest participants to actively cooperate with the Family, Youth, and Sports Ministry.
Minister Kremen said that the contest’s range had increased compared to the previous year in terms of the number of participants and the papers’ level and profundity. He thanked the contest organizers for proposing the participants urgent and socially significant problems. Minister Kremin called on the young people to work out an innovative thinking, which would help them to be successful and competitive in the future.
Borys Novozhylov spoke about Artek and its cooperation with the Ukraine 3000 Foundation in the area of education. He announced that a new project by the Artek IICC, Ukraine 3000 Foundation, and Ministry of Ukraine for Family, Youth, and Sports, called Artek My Dream. It is supposed that within this project’s framework organizers’ representatives will visit all Ukraine’s oblasts, where children will be selected on competitive basis to be sent to Artek at the budget expense. Besides, Borys Novozhylov announced a new initiative to create a UN Children’s Assembly with headquarters in Artek.
Deputy Head of the Presidential Secretariat Andriy Honcharuk, Foreign Minister and Head of the National UNESCO Committee of Ukraine Volodymyr Ohryzko, Head of the Intellectual Property Protection Department Mykola Paladiy, Head of the Editors Board of the Aktsyz international magazine Volodymyr Demchak, and Head of the Young Leaders’ Forum Supervisory Board Ihor Shevchenko also shared their views on the support for the gifted youth.
After that, the awards ceremony of the Second Innovative Intellect of Ukraine All-Ukrainian Youth Competition took place. The diplomas, prize certificates, and presents were handed over to the winners by Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko.

Additionally, prizes were awarded for special propositions, along with prizes and presents from the competition’s partners.
The Artek International Children’s Center proposed to conduct a research on the theme, How Can We Make the Artek Brend Known Globally? The prize, two tours to Artek, was handed over by Artek Director General Borys Novozhylov to Vadym Ratynsky (Termopil Puliuy State Technical University).
The Aktsyz international magazine announced a competition for young journalists within the framework of the Innovative Intellect of Ukraine competition. The total of 27 works was submitted, with 13 of them getting to the finals. The first prize went to Daryna Horova, second – Olha Solodukha (both from Kyiv), with the incentive prize going to Kateryna Mykytiuk, Odesa. The monet certificates were handed over to the winners by Head of the Editors Board of the Aktsyz magazine Volodymyr Demchak.
Another special proposition was made by the Young Leaders’ Forum: the contest of social projects, Being Healthy is Trendy and Prestigious: Healthy Lifestyle as the Modern Global Trend. The first prize hadn’t been awarded; the second went to Kateryna Mykytiuk and third – Kateryna Cherevko. The winners were greeted by Head of the Young Leaders’ Forum Supervisory Board Ihor Shevchenko.
The Intel Corporation awarded prizes to the authors of the works connected with working out and introducing new technologies: Oleksandr Holovko, Anastasiya Fidkunova, Vasyl Khomiak, and Vadym Nesterenko.
The Zeleny Hay Public Corporation (Mykolayiv Oblast) announced the Homeland nomination, as last year. This year the nomination was supported by Ivano-Frankivsk-based Promprylad PC. Dmytro Chatkin and Mariya Pylypiv received their awards in, correspondingly, the Mykolayiv Oblast, My Homeland and Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, My Homeland nominations.
The Dynasty Lviv-based fund also proposed an award: a training course for one of the finalists at the European Educational Foundation, Poland. IN its turn, the Foundation is prepared to give a grant for a finalist to study at one of Poland’s universities. Both prizes were passed to the Ukraine 3000 Foundation, which is to chose the winners.
The Best Business Idea prize according to RuteniyaWest Investment and Consulting Company was awarded to Nataliya Bihun. She has received a certificate for UAH 5,000.
Finally, the Gifted Youth Union of Ukraine awarded its prizes for the most talented works. Its presents, the Gifted Youth of Ukraine publications, were delivered to Vitaly Lishchuk, Marharyta Zhuravliova, and Anton Hlushko.
The Innovative Intellect of Ukraine All-Ukrainian Youth Competition is conducted by the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation and is aimed at searching for talented young people, supporting them, and involving into active research and social activities.
The Second Innovative Intellect of Ukraine All-Ukrainian Youth Competition was held from June 15, 2007, till January 15, 2008, and was supported by the Presidential Secretariat.
The contest hadfour nominations:
- Scientific research on economic and humanitarian subjects (set by the organizers).
- Degree thesis on economic and humanitarian subjects (set by the organizers).
- Business ideas.
- Social projects.
The contest participants were also offered special proposals from the organizers: the Artek ICC, Aktsyz international magazine, RuteniyaWest Investment and Consulting Company, Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation, and Young Leaders’ Forum of Ukraine.
The total of 1,608 works was submitted to the contest, which is almost twice as much as last year. Poltava oblast again was an indisputable leader (307 papers). The second and third places in terms of the number of submitted works were taken by Kyiv and Kyiv oblast (114) and Kharkiv oblast (100). The regional selections were held from February 20 till March 25. March 28 and 29, all the pretenders for the victory came to Kyiv to defend their works before the National Contest Committee.
The First Innovative Intellect of Ukraine All-Ukrainian Youth Competition was held from October 2006 till January 2007. Around 900 papers were submitted from all Ukraine’s oblasts.
