Cherkasy Regional Selection for the Second Ukraine’s Innovative Intellect Youth Contest Finished

February 20, 2008, the regional selections started at the Second Ukraine’s Innovative Intellect Youth Contest. The first stage was held in Cherkasy at the local oblast pedagogical postgraduate university.

Cherkasy oblast presented 38 works, 19 of them on humanitarian topics, 15 – economic, and 4 – social. Among the participants were 26 high school students, 9 college students, 3 professors, and one head of a hobby group. The works were submitted in the following cities:

• Smila – 19
• Cherkasy  – 10
• Uman – 2
• Drabiv – 1
• Kaniv – 5
• Kamyanka – 1
• Chornobay – 1

The winners of the regional selections are:

Humanitarian Section

Age category 1 – Alina Kuksenko (Cherkasy State Humanitarian and Law Lyceum)
Age category 2 – Serhiy Dzholos (Cherkasy Khmelnytsky National University)
Age category 3 – Oleksandr Perebyjnis (East European economy and Management University, Kaniv department)

Economy Section

Age category 1 – Aliona Kozubenko (Smila School No. 6)
Age category 2 – Vadyn Syrota (Cherkasy Banking Business Institute)
Age category 3 – Roman Kucherenko (East European economy and Management University, Kaniv department)

The winner of the selections in the Social Projects nomination, in accordance with the Contest Provisions, will be selected by the National Contest Committee and invited to the National Youth Forum in Kyiv March 28-29, 2008.

The members of the regional contest committee are:

• Oksana Pushonkova, senior professor at the Philosophy Chair of the Cherkasy Khmelnytsky National University, Candidate in Philosophy.
• Valentyna Konovalchuk, Ph.D. student at the Kostiuk Psychology Institute, Candidate in Psychology, assistant professor.
• Stanislava Pasieka, Head of the Management and Tourism Chair, Cherkasy Khmelnytsky National University, Candidate in Economy, assistant professor.
• Lesia Petkova, Head of the International Economy and State Management Chair, Professor.
• Svitlana Moyseyeva, Director, Cherkasy Economical Education Center, Head of the Natural and Mathematical Sciences Laboratory.
