April 27, 2007, the Educational Summit, the closing event of the Second Human Rebirth, Revival, and Development International Humanitarian Forum, was held at the Artek International Children’s Center.

Among the participants of the summit were Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Kateryna Yushchenko, Advisor to the Head of the Fund’s Supervisory Board Andriy Myroshnichenko, President of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine Vasyl Kremin, UN Resident Coordinator in Ukraine Francis O’Donnell, UNICEF representative in Ukraine Jeremy Hartley, Intel’s Education Director for EMEA Martina Roth, Director of the International Center for Humane Pedagogics Shalva Amonashvili, and Director of the Artek ICC Educational Center Olha Moyseyeva.

The participants of the Educational Summit summarized the Second Human Rebirth, Revival, and Development International Humanitarian Forum. The major result of the Forum was gaining understanding that this event was necessary and well-timed.

Besides, the Summit adopted the draft Human Education and Development Manifesto, aimed at defining a strategy for renewing the education through a transition from education as a system of knowledge transfer to education as integrated humane upbringing.

A group of the Artek School students, who submitted their proposals for the Human Education and Development Manifesto, made their appearance at the Summit.

The Forum’s Organizing Committee resolved to take the draft Manifesto as a basis and commission the Educational Council of the Forum with elaborating the details and making public the final version by June 1, 2007.

In his summing-up speech, Advisor to the Head of the Ukraine 3000 Fund’s Supervisory Board Andriy Myroshnichenko thanked the Forum’s partners, in part, the Artek International Children’s Center, its staff, and especially its Director General Borys Novozhylov and Deputy Director Serhiy Kapustyn, the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine and its President Vasyl Kremin, UNICEF representatives in Ukraine, UN system in Ukraine, UNESCO, and technical partners: Intel and AlterNet. Mr. Myroshnichenko expressed his special thanks to the Forum’s exclusive sponsor, the EDAPS Consortium.

Mr. Myroshnichenko announced another important initiative by the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund and Organizing Committee of the Second Human Rebirth, Revival, and Development International Humanitarian Forum: launching an Artek Global Educational Summit.

The combined Artek choir and orchestra presented to the Summit participants a concert prepared in four days time.

The Ukraine 3000 Fund believes that the end of the Second Human Rebirth, Revival, and Development International Humanitarian Forum will give a start to implementing a series of educational programs by the Ukraine 3000 Fund, other NGOs and partners, in accordance with the Forum’s recommendations.

The Second Human Rebirth, Revival, and Development International Humanitarian Forum, dedicated to educational issues, took place April 23 to 27, 2007 , at the Artek International Children’s Center..

The Forum’s goal was summarizing renowned pedagogues’ experience, forming basic principles for pedagogical science and education development, based on common values and humane development.

The Forum participants were 77 renowned pedagogues from Ukraine, Russia, Italy, Germany, Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, along with over 100 Crimea-based teachers. In total, over 320 participants will visit the Forum.

Among those taking part in the Forum events were Intel Charity and Education Director for EMEA Martina Roth, professor for media law with the Heidelberg University (Germany) Karl Wilhelm Pohl, representatives of the Ukraine’s Development Charitable Fund, Director of the International Center for Humane Pedagogics Shalva Amonashvili, author of a personality-oriented teaching system Mykola Huzyk, author of a concept of a new-type school based on the principles of humanization and democratization of the educational process, Organizing Director of the Sukhomlynsky Ukrainian College Vasylyna Khayrulina, Head of the Russia’s Montessori Pedagogues Association, one of the founders of the Innovative Schools and Centers Association Yelena Khiltunen, and other leading pedagogues along with representatives of the authorities, NGOs (in part, the participants of annual festivals and forums Pedagogical Science in the Twenty-First Century, Parents’ Forum, Family from A to Z, etc.), pedagogical educational institutions, and charitable organizations.

April 24, 2007, the Upbringing of the Future: Values, Goals, and Technologies scholarly conference and plenary session were held. On the same day, three panels started their simultaneous work: Theoretical and Methodical Issues in Cultivating Spirituality and Human Revival, Search for Ways to Renew the Essence of Education and Upbringing, and Introducing Innovative Educational Values in Modern Educational Institutions and Public Alliances.

April 25-27 presentations, master classes, pedagogic workshops, and round tables had been held. In this period, 15 master classes and three simultaneous round tables were held: Childhood Space, Teacher of the Future, and Educational Society.

Throughout the whole duration of the Forum, its participants had been working on the draft Human Education and Development Manifesto.

The Second International Human Rebirth, Revival, and Development Humanitarian Forum is another link in a chain of public initiatives started and implemented by the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund in its Tomorrow area.

In 2004, the Public Strategy for Ukraine’s Development project was initiated, resulting in the People’s Manifesto: Program of Principles, proclaiming the freedom of human development our country’s major value.

In April 2006, the First International Human Rebirth, Revival, and Development Humanitarian Forum was held, dedicated to natural disaster. The Forum, timed to coincide with the twentieth anniversary of Chernobyl, resulted in signing the Manifesto of Human Responsibility, outlining a plan for strategic initiatives that will allow the humanity to prevent manmade disasters.
