Representatives of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Take Part in the Opening of the Prevent Human Trafficking for the Sake of Safe Migration Second Regional Forum
September 26, representatives of the Ukraine 3000 Fund took part in the opening of the Prevent Trafficking for the Sake of Safe Migration: Role of the NGOs in Providing Public Control and Rendering Assistance Second Regional Forum.
Among the participants of the event were President of the La Strada Ukraine International Women’s Rights Center Kateryna Shevchenko, Coordinator of the La Strada International Association Susanna Hoff, Head of the Tomorrow Area of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Olha Kovalenko, and Executive Director of the Ukrainian Women’s Fund Natalia Kravchenko.
At the opening ceremony, Head of the Tomorrow Area Olha Kovalenko read out a greeting letter from the Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Kateryna Yushchenko.
The Prevent Trafficking for the Sake of Safe Migration: Role of the NGOs in Providing Public Control and Rendering Assistance Second Regional Forum took place in Kyiv on September 26027, 2006, with the support from the La Strada Ukraine International Women’s Rights Center and Ukrainian Women’s Fund.
The goal of the event is discussing and working out practical recommendations for consolidating our potential and perfecting our work in the sphere of the fight against human trafficking. Around 80 NGO representatives from over 20 countries came to the forum.
The first Regional Forum was held in Poland on September 15-16, 2005, and was dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the La Strada Program.
In the two days of the Forum, plenary sessions took place along with three rounds of working groups. The Forum resulted in:
- NGO’s address to their governments and international organizations with proposals on perfecting their work aimed at prevention of human trafficking and improving their cooperation with NGOs;
- recommendations by the participating organizations on national and international actions to strengthen the fight against human trafficking;
- practical recommendations for NGOs on improving their effectiveness against human trafficking.
