Members of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Take Part in the Opening Ceremony of the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Children National Conference
Representatives of the California Association to Aid Ukraine took part in the opening ceremony of the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Children national conference on the results of implementing effective perinatal technologies in Ukraine. The conference is dedicated to the results of the Health of the Mother and the Child project in Ukraine.
Among other participants were USAID Regional Mission Head Earl Gast, UNICEF Representative in Ukraine Jeremy Hartley, Head of the Healthcare for Mothers and Children Administration of Ukraine’s Health Ministry Rayisa Moyseyenko, Manager of the Mother and Infant Health Project in Ukraine Helen Lefevr-Schaulle, Director of the Department of Making Pregnancy Safer of the World Health Organization Geneva Headquarters Monir Islam.
Head of the Tomorrow Area Olha Kovalenko read out a greeting letter from Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Kateryna Yushchenko.
The conference will take place on September 11-12. Its first day will feature presentations and open discussions dedicated to the first stage of the Mother and Infant Health Project, and the second – discussion of the major areas of implementing this project.
The Mother and Infant Health Project financed by USAID was launched in September 2002 and is being implemented in eight Ukraine’s oblasts, the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea, and the City of Kyiv. Its goal is improving Ukrainian women’s reproductive health through introducing effective perinatal technologies. The project is being carried out by John Snow Inc. in alliance with the Academy for Educational Development (the US). Its partners are the Health Ministry of Ukraine and the TNK-VR Ukraine Company.
