Ukraine 3000 Foundation and MacDonalds Ukraine Launch Joint Charitable Action, McHappy Day

November 1, 2010, the traditional joint charitable action by the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation and MacDonald’s Ukraine Company, McHappy Day, was launched. Its objective is raising funds for purchasing medical equipment to be donated to 22 children’s hospitals throughout Ukraine.

The McHappy Day action is held November 1-30, 2010 in all 68 MacDonald’s restaurants in Ukraine. In its course, the visitors will be able to make a personal contribution into helping children by buying a token heart or charm, and November 7 – also by ordering French fries. Additionally, this year a group of renowned Ukrainian singers, radio and TV hosts have recorded a collection of Ukrainian, Russian, and English fairytales for an exclusive fairytale CD special for McHappy Day.

The money, raised in course of the action, will be used to purchase equipment for diagnostics and treatment of respiratory organs: spirographers, nebulizers, and peakfluometers. The equipment will be donated to 22 children’s hospitals in Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk,  Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Kremenchuk, Krivy Rih, Luhansk, Lviv, Mariupol, Mykolayiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sevastopol, Simferopol, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, and Yalta.

Traditionally, renowned athletes, musicians, and public figures will join in the action, visiting November 7 MacDonald’s restaurant in Khreshchatyk and taking part in selling token hearts, charms, and fairytale CDs.

After the action is completed, the amount of funds, raised in course of McHappy Day, will be made public.

McHappy Day is an annual charitable action, carried out by McDonalds Company since 2002 in more than 100 countries. The action is aimed at raising funds for charitable projects dealing with children’s health protection and improving their living conditions. In the eight years (2002-2009) of its existence in Ukraine the action has raised over UAH 5,162,000, channeled for supporting 40 children’s patient care institutions in 29 Ukraine’s cities.

Since 2005, the World Children’s Day at McDonalds is held in partnership with the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation. The Foundation’s considerable expertise in  implementing charitable projects helps to chose patient care institutions most needing help, and making this help as effective as possible. Due to the money, collected in the 2005 action, family rooms at the Oncology Institute at the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine were remodeled and renewed. In 2006, the Healthy Heart of a Child action was implemented, purchasing cardio equipment for 18 Ukraine’s children’s hospitals. In 2007, equipment for emergency aid and children’s electric pumps were purchased for 30 hospitals in all Ukraine’s oblasts. In 2008, 29 children’s hospitals received reanimation equipment for newborns. In 2009 22 hospitals received defibrillators and electrode sets.
