President of Ukraine Visits Children’s Onco-Hematology and Marrow Transplantation Center at OKHMATDYT as Part of the Dreams Come True Project
January 15, 2010, as part of the Ukraine 3000 Foundation’s Dreams Come True project, President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko and Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko visited the Onco-Hematology and Marrow Transplantation Center at OKHMATDYT Hospital.
The Dreams Come True project was launched in 2008. The Ukraine 3000 Foundation distributes questionnaires among children with cancer, treated at Kyiv’s patient care facilities, so that they could write down their wishes for St. Nicholas. The Foundation’s staff members process the questionnaires and bring to the children the wished-for presents and sometimes celebrities they wanted to meet.
Two patients of the Chemotherapy and Oncology Department of the Children’s Onco-Hematology and Marrow Transplantation Center, Katia Mayorova (11) and Serhiy Didkovsky (17), dreamed to meet the President of Ukraine. Viktor Yushchenko visited the kids and brought them presents.
Mr. President and Mrs. Yushchenko also talked to the little patients and their parents and visited some wards.
All the twenty children staying at the department received presents from the Dreams Come True project.
President Yushchenko also passed over to the Center surgical dressing, a TV set and DVD player.
