Kateryna Yushchenko and Media People Visit Children’s Hospital of the Future Site

August 27, 2009, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation and Head of the Board of Trustees of Children’s Hospital of the Future Charitable Program Kateryna Yushchenko together with journalists visited the All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health construction site.

Also present were Ihor Tarasiuk, Head of the State Administration of Affairs, Vasyl Lazoryshynets, Deputy Minister for Health Care of Ukraine, Anatoly Holubchenko, First Deputy Head of Kyiv City State Administration, Andriy Nikonchuk, Deputy Director General of Altis-Holding Corporation, Vira Pavliuk, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Children’s Hospital of the Future Charitable Foundation, Oleksandr Maksymchuk, Head of the Board of Directors of Ukraine 3000 Foundation, representatives of the Center’s Designer General and Contractor, Feofaniya clinical hospital, State Astronomical Observatory, State Administration of Affairs, Children’s Hospital of the Future and Ukraine 3000 foundations.

As reported earlier, by Kyiv City Council resolution of February 19, 2009, the All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health was allotted a land plot in Kyiv’s Holosiyivo district. Altis-Holding Corporation is carrying out land development on the site.

Accompanied by Altis-Holding representatives, Deputy Director General Andriy Nikonchuk, project head Vitaly Paladiy, and job superintendant Dmytro Shytikov, the guests inspected the construction site. At present, site preparation is being carried out: geodesic and geological survey, interim communications, and excavations.

Mrs. Kateryna and media people visited the construction control center, familiarized herself with Center architectural design data plotters, performance project, and land development timetable.

“I am happy to see the progress of Children’s Hospital of the Future project, which has already entered the construction stage,” Mrs. Yushchenko said. “We have a beautiful project, which is now becoming reality. We will do everything so that the hospital was as perfect as possible, and our children wouldn’t have to raise money for treatment abroad and would get help at home, in Ukraine.”

Mrs. Kateryna recalled that the All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health architectural design had entered the final three of Bentley Systems’ Be Inspired Award in Innovation in the Generative Design nomination.

Mrs. Yushchenko asked the journalists to visit the Center’s construction site on a regular basis to execute civic control over the construction process.

Head of the Supervisory Board of the Children’s Hospital of the Future Charitable Foundation Vira Pavliuk presented the Center’s architectural design and the process of selecting Contractor General. Recall that in July 2001 Contractor General was selected for land development and initial construction work at All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers' and Children's Health, Altis-Holding Corporation.

Mr. Tarasiuk recalled that, by an order of the Head of the State Administration of Affairs, the All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health was registered as a legal entity. “The construction has already begun; changes will be going on every day,” he said. “We need to train a group of specialists to work at the hospital, while the works are going on.”

“Working on this project, we understand our great responsibility to the society,” Mr. Nikonchuk said, adding that the project was complicated, experimental, but at the same time extremely interesting. Mr. Nikonchul said that the development stage would take six months. “We have the strength, experience, and, most important, a great desire to implement this project,” he said. “We are certain that we’ll meet the deadline and execute the works with European quality.”

Vasyl Lazoryshynets said that the Ministry of Health Care was taking an active part in the project. The Ministry experts prepared medical task for the All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health. Mr. Lazoryshynets outlined the range of issues in health care, which the creation of Children’s Hospital of the Future will help to solve. In part, this institution could become a base for creating a bone marrow donors list, which Ukraine lacks at present. On behalf of the Ministry Mr. Lazoryshynets promised to exert every effort to provide the hospital with first-rate experts.

The All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health, a.k.a. Children’s Hospital of the Future, is being created as patient care institution of the fourth (highest) accreditation level. Seriously ill children, who cannot be cured in Ukraine at present, will be admitted here. The project has become the biggest charitable project in Ukraine’s history.
