Ukrainian Children’s Hospitals Receive Modern Medicine and Medical Equipment from Ukraine 3000 Foundation and Its Partners



April 3, 2008, the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation handed over vaccines and aerophones to the Hospital to Hospital program member hospitals. Among the participants of the event, hosted by the Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics, and Gynecology at the Academy of Medical Sciences, were Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko, Minister for Health Care of Ukraine Vasyl Kniazevych, Minister for Health Care of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea Serhiy Donych, Deputy Head of the Medical Aid for Mothers and Children Department at the Health Ministry of Ukraine Valentyna Pedan, Director of the Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics, and Gynecology at the Academy of Medical Sciences Yuri Antipkin, Director of the Hospital to Hospital program Vira Pavliuk, Sanofi Pasteur Regional Representative for Ukraine Olena Bech, President of Realton Company, the official representative of the GN ReSound Company in Ukraine Viktor Moskovchenko, Head Physician of the Republic Children’s Clinical Hospital, AR Crimea Oleksandr Astakhov, and Head Physician of the Mykolayiv Oblast Children’s Hospital Dmytro Hotsuliak.

With the Ukraine 3000 Foundation’s support, the Sanofi Pasteur Company is donating vaccines to the oblast children’s hospitals, and the REALTON Company – aerophones by the Danish GN ReSound Concern.

Addressing the audience, Mrs. Yushchenko thanked the Sanofi Pasteur and REALTON for setting an example of true corporative responsibility.

Mrs. Kateryna announced that Sanofi Pasteur was donating the vaccines to the total of around USD 3.5 million. She urged all Ukrainian mothers to consider the importance of vaccination. “The mothers should know that, refusing to vaccinate their children, they are putting their lives at risk,” she insisted.

Mrs. Yushchenko placed high emphasis on the importance of the aid rendered by REALTON. “There are 500,000 children with impaired hearing in Ukraine,” she said. “The today’s action is to become the first step to solving their problems.”

Mrs. Yushchenko also addresses the Health Care Ministry, the government of Ukraine, and Verkhovna Rada with a request to find sources for financing the help to children with impaired hearing. “The early treatment will prevent further decrease of their hearing, which means that they will be able to study and integrate themselves into the society,” she said.

Mrs. Yushchenko handed over to chief physicians of the Mykolayiv and Crimean hospitals certificates for the vaccines and aerophones. In addition, four children from Mykolayiv oblast and the Crimea were given aerophones and presents from Mrs. Yushchenko.

Sanofi Pasteur, one of the world’s leading companies in vaccine production, in pursuance of the agreements signed at the meeting between its representatives and Ukraine 3000 Foundation members of March 5, 2007, is donating vaccines against hepatitis A, measles, and pneumococcus to the total of UAH 3,424,550 to the Republic Children’s Clinical Hospital, AR Crimea, Mykolayiv Oblast Children’s Hospital, Chernihiv Oblast Children’s Hospital, Volyn Oblast Children’s Territorial Medical Alliance, Zaporizhzhia Oblast Children’s Hospital, Rivne Oblast Children’s Hospital, OKHMATDIT Specialized Children’s Hospital, and the Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics, and Gynecology at the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.

The company’s staff members will conduct trainings for pediatricians and immunologists at the oblast hospitals. It is also planned to purchase modern literature on pediatrics and immunology for the hospitals receiving the vaccines. Besides, Sanofi Pasteur is planning to send three Ukrainian immunologists from the Hospital to Hospital program’s member hospitals for a training in France. The costs for this training are estimated at UAH 30,000.

The Realton Company has donated 30 powerful 4-channel digital aerophones by the Danish GN ReSound Concern to the total of around UAH 80,000 to the Mykolayiv Oblast Children’s Hospital and the Republic Children’s Clinical Hospital, AR Crimea.
