Ukraine 3000 Fund Representatives Take Part in the Telemedicine: Myths and Reality First International Conference

Expert with the Medical programs Department of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Taras Tkachuk took part in the Telemedicine: Myths and Reality First International Conference November 8-9, 2007, in Lviv. Its organizers were the Meditekh West-Ukrainian Telemedicine Center and Salius Charitable Fund.

The event had gathered together around 150 doctors of various specialties, head managers of patient care institutions, IT specialists, and everybody interested in propagating telemedicine in Europe, Asia, and America.

The participants of the conference discussed urgent issues of the practical telemedicine, in part, the current situation in and prospects for the development of telemedicine and electronic health care in Ukraine and abroad, telemedical consultations, distance learning, hospital information systems and telemedicine networks, home and mobile telemedicine, informatization and internet in health care, electronic medical records, and information safety in medicine.

Doctors from the US, Poland, SAR, Georgia, Germany, Russia, and Bulgaria shared their experience, reading papers on the practical functioning of effective European models of home and mobile telemedicine, emergency telemedicine, and successful implementation of telemedicine projects.
