Ukraine 3000 Fund Representative Takes Part in the Mothers’ and Children’s Health Protection Initiatives: Strategies and International Partnership Round Table
September 18, 2007, expert with the Medical Programs Department at the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Taras Tkachuk took part in the Mothers’ and Children’s Health Protection Initiatives: Strategies and International Partnership Round Table. The event was carried out with the support from Rivne Oblast State Administration, OMNI Children’s Network International Charitable Fund, and Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund.
Among the participants of the round table hosted by Rivne Oblast Polishchuk Technical Treatment and Diagnosing Center were Head of the Department of Medical Genetics at the University of South Alabama (USA) Wolodimir Werteletcki, Head of the Department of Medical Genetics at the Radiation Medicine Research Center Ihor Baryliak, representatives of the Rivne Oblast State Administration, scientists, and leading staff members of Khmelnitsky and Rivne medical institutions.
The round table discussed, in part, the OMNI Network’s Birth Defects Prevention program, its results and prospects. Also the issues related to the Rivne OMNI Center and cooperation within the OMNI network were touched upon.
Mr. Tkachuk described the Ukraine 3000 Fund’s medical programs, in part, the Hospital to Hospital project. He said that the OMNI Network experience should be expanded to the whole Ukraine’s territory, adding that the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund would provide informational support to OMNI Network projects for the Hospital to Hospital member hospitals.
The International Children's OMNI-Net is a non-for-profit, non-government organization in Ukraine dedicated to the prevention and care of developmental disorders and birth defects. It was officially registered by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on December 30, 2004. Today OMNI-Net consists of a network of 5 OMNI-Net resource centers in Rivne, Lutsk, Kherson, Khmelnytsky and Simferopol. Their activities are aimed at developing resources to improve children care and prevent birth defects and development disorders in children. OMNI Centers provide to doctors and parents of children with birth defects access to the information on children’s development, diagnosing, treatment, and prevention of birth defects, and takes part in telemedicine consultations.
