Khmelnytsky City Children’s Hospital Receives Modern Audiology Equipment from Ukraine 3000 Fund
September 25, 2007, representatives of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund led by Head of the Fund’s Supervisory Board Kateryna Yushchenko, visited the Khmelnytsky City Children’s Hospital.
Among other participants of the event were Head of the Khmelnytsky Oblast State Administration Oleksandr Bukhanevich, Chief Children’s Otolaryngologist with the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine Anatoly Kosakovsky, Head of the Board of Directors of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Oleksandr Maksymchuk, Head of the Fund’s Medical Programs Vira Pavliuk, members of the hospital’s Board of Trustees, representatives of the local authorities and Ukraine 3000 Fund.
Accompanied by Chief Physician Ivan Hutsul, the guests familiarized themselves with the hospital’s work. They visited the Newborns’ ICU, where the equipment donated by the Ukraine 3000 Fund and Procter & Gamble Ukraine has been working for almost one year. In Dr. Hutsul’s words, this equipment has helped the doctors to save lives of hundreds of children. Besides, Mrs. Yushchenko visited the salt mine created due to the Board of Trustees’ efforts to treat respiratory tract diseases in children.
Mrs. Yushchenko held a brief meeting with the medical staff and members of the Board of Trustees and visited the wards, talking to little patients and their parents.
Mrs. Yushchenko and the Fund members took part in the unveiling ceremony of the audiology room. In September 2007 the hospital turned to the Ukraine 3000 Fund with a letter informing on the increasing number of children’s disability cases in the oblast due to the lack of high-quality diagnosing audiology equipment. The Ukraine 3000 Fund couldn’t but address the letter and resolved to purchase and donate to the hospital the necessary equipment.
“We hope that soon this equipment will start helping to diagnose hearing disorders in little children, which is extremely important,” Mrs. Kateryna said. “We know that the sooner the disorders are discovered, the more efficient the treatment will be.”
Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko passed over to Mr. Hutsul a certificate for modern audiology equipment set. At present, it has already been set at the audiology room, and training has been held for the staff. The set includes:
- Audiometer for objective hearing test in small children;
- HP Compaq laptop;
- Canon LBP-2900 printer.
Total cost – UAH 100,000.
Besides, Mrs. Kateryna donated children’s books to the hospital library.
In his turn, Mr. Kosakovsky spoke about the unique equipment able to detect hearing disorders on early stages. The equipment will help tom provide prompt aid to Khmelnytsky oblast children, allowing to diagnose them on the spot.
Dr. Hutsul thanked Mrs. Yushchenko and the Ukraine 3000 Fund and presented them with an icon.
