Medical Equipment worth over UAH 500,000 Donated to the Kirovohrad Oblast Children’s Hospital by Ukraine 3000 Fund
September 18, 2007, representatives of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund, headed by Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Kateryna Yushchenko, visited the Kirovohrad Oblast Children’s Hospital.
Among the participants of the event were Head of the Kirovohrad Oblast State Administration Vadym Chernysh, Head of the Kirovohrad Oblast Council Mykola Sukhomlyn, Head of the Healthcare Administration Mykola Benet, Director of the Children’s Onco-Hematology and Marrow Transplantation Center at the OKHMATDIT Specialized Children’s Hospital Svitlana Donska, Advisor to Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Andriy Myroshnichenko, Director of the Medical Programs Department at the Ukraine 3000 Fund Vira Pavliuk, representatives of the local authorities and Ukraine 3000 Fund.
On behalf of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund, Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko donated to the Kirovohrad Oblast Children’s Hospital medical equipment for the Onco-Hematology and Neonatology Units. Addressing the audience, Mrs. Yushchenko said that this equipment was necessary for rendering medical assistance to the little patients, “We hope it will be of considerable benefit to the little patients and the medical staff working on it,” she said.
The Kirovohrad Oblast Children’s Hospital received from Ukraine 3000 Fund the following equipment:
- Hematology analyzer (for onco-hematologic tests) with consumables for one year;
- Laminar flow unit for the Onco-Hematology Unit;
- Three infant incubators;
- An AV system for newborns;
- Two bed monitors for newborns.
Besides, Mrs. Kateryna donated children’s books to the hospital library.
The total cost of the presents is over UAH 500,000.
Mrs. Kateryna spoke about the Ukraine 3000 Fund’s medical programs, in part, the Hospital to Hospital program. She mentioned that among its components were workshops. Today the first workshop of a training course for children’s onco-hematologists and hematologists was held in Kirovohrad by Director of the Children’s Onco-Hematology and Marrow Transplantation Center at the OKHMATDIT Specialized Children’s Hospital Svitlana Donska. Mrs. Kateryna thanked Dr. Donska for conducting the workshop and expressed her hope that owing to such courses doctors throughout Ukraine would be able to help the gravely ill children on a higher professional level.
Accompanied by Chief Physician Yuri Kobliansky, the guests took a tour of the hospital. They visited the Onco-Hematology and Neonatology Units where the equipment will be installed. Mrs. Yushchenko held a brief meeting with the medical staff and visited the wards, talking to little patients and their parents.
The Kirovohrad Oblast Children’s Hospital is member of the Ukraine 3000 Fund’s Hospital to Hospital program. It was founded in August 1972. The hospital’s total bed capacity is 480. Around 80 doctors and 300 paramedics work at the hospital. The consultative outpatient clinic receives 70 patients per shift. The hospital has an audiology unit and medical genetics consultative center. The children’s trauma center admits patients round the clock.
As part of the Hospital to Hospital program, in 2005-2007 the Kirovohrad Oblast Children’s Hospital has received from Ukraine 3000 Fund medical equipment, medicines, books, and toys with total cost over UAH 400,000. In part, Ukraine 3000 Fund and Procter & Gamble Ukraine’s a joint action brought the hospital a modern reanimobile in October 2005. Including the equipment delivered today, the total sum of the aid rendered to the hospital will be over UAH 900,000.
Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko and Ukraine 3000 Fund representatives are staying in Kirovohrad for a one-day working trip. They have already been to the Kirovohrad National Technical University, founding a birch lane, and the Kirovohrad Children’s House.
