Ukraine 3000 Fund Representatives Meet with Lviv Oblast Artists



September 13, 2007, representatives of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund headed by the Fund’s Supervisory Board Head Kateryna Yushchenko met with Lviv oblast artists.

Among the participants of the event were Deputy Chief Architect of Lviv Oleksandr Yarema, Rector of the Lviv National Arts Academy Andriy Bokotey, sculptor and Merited Artist Volodymyr Odrekhivsky, assistant professor with the Art Glass Chair Oleksandr Zvir, assistant professor with the Woodcarving Chair Ihor Stefiuk, metal and ceramics artist Ivan Frank, Advisor to the Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Andriy Miroshnichenko, Head of the Fund’s Board of Directors Oleksandr Maksymchuk, Head of the Fund’s Medical Programs Department Vira Pavliuk, and Expert with the Cultural Programs Department Tetiana Zhuravska.

The parties discussed the Ukraine 3000 Fund’s new project to be launched in the near future, a contest of designs for a contemporary arts park to be laid out at the All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health, Children’s Hospital of the Future, grounds.

Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko spoke about the progress of the hospital project. She specified that the environmental design was an important part of the project. On the one hand, the Feofaniya Resort unique landscape has to be preserved, on the other, a recreation zone has to be created as an important factor for psychological and physiological convalescence. Mrs. Kateryna added that creating a contemporary arts park is also aimed at supporting young Ukrainian artists and designers.

Lviv artists displayed their interest in the project and voiced their ideas regarding its implementation. In part, the leaders of the Lviv National Arts Academy said that their students would definitely take part in the design contest.

On behalf of the Ukraine 3000 Fund, Mrs. Yushchenko presented the Lviv artists with the Ukrainian Modernism books. As a return present, she was given a book on art glass.

Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko and members of the Ukraine 3000 Fund are staying in Lviv for a one-day working trip. They have already been to the Ukrainian Catholic University, took part in the Fourteenth Book Publishers Forum, and visited Lviv City Community Children’s Hospital.
