Ukraine 300 Fund Donates Medical Equipment with Total Cost over UAH 100,000 to Kherson Oblast Children’s Hospital
August 15, 2007, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Kateryna Yushchenko visited the Kherson Oblast Children’s Hospital. Among other participants of the event were Advisor to the Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Andriy Myroshnichenko, Director of the Hospital to Hospital Program Vira Pavliuk, Head of the Kherson Oblast State Andministration Boris Silenkov, and Head of the Healthcare Department at the Kherson OSA Mykhaylo Brahar.
Accompanied by Chief Physician of the Kherson Oblast Children’s Hospital Liudmyla Liatetska, the guests took a tour of the hospital, visiting the premature born children department, newborn’s ICU, and rehabilitation center for children with lesions of the nervous system. Mrs. Kateryna talked to the little patients and their parents and had a brief meeting with the medical staff.
On behalf of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund, Kateryna Yushchenko handed over to the Kherson Oblast Children’s Hospital two infant incubators and toys with total costs over UAH 100,000.
Kherson Oblast Children’s Hospital is member of the Hospital to Hospital program. It was created in 1964. Its total bed capacity is 540. The clinic can receive 150 patients per one shift. 95,000 children from Kherson and rural regions receive consultations at the center every year with another 15,000 receiving emergency and planned assistance at the hospital. In 1992, a neonatal center for 120 beds was created, rendering specialized assistance of all kinds, and also a medical and social rehabilitation center for junior children with lesions of the central nervous system. In 2004 the hospital was awarded the Golden Fortuna diploma.
Within the framework of the Hospital to Hospital program in 2005-2007 the Kherson Oblast Children’s Hospital has received charitable aid in the form of medical equipment, medicine, and books totaling over UAH 20,000. In part, it has received a cardio equipment set within the framework of the Ukraine 3000 Fund and McDonalds Ukraine Ltd.’s Healthy Heart of a Child joint action. A Board of Trustees is actively working at the hospital.
Mrs. Yushchenko and Ukraine 3000 Fund representatives are staying in Kherson oblast for a one-day working trip. A visit to the Tsiurupinsk Orphanage and Boarding School is also on the agenda.
