The Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Is Ready to Help in Training Medical Specialists for the Children’s Hospital of the Future
July 17, 2007, representatives of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund took part in a teleconference between Ukrainian specialists and representatives of the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (the US).
Head of the Children’s Onco-Hematology and Marrow Transplantation Center at the OKHMATDIT Hospital Svitlana Donska, Head of the Marrow Transplantation Department of the Children’s Onco-Hematology and Marrow Transplantation Center at the OKHMATDIT HospitalOleh Ryzhak, Head Children’s Otolaryngologist at the Ministry of Health of Ykraine and head of the Chair of Children’s Otolaryngology, Audiology, and Phoniatrics at the Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Studies Anatoly Kosakivsky, and medical expert with the Department of Medical Programs at the Ukraine 3000 Fund Taras Tkachuk took part in the event hosted by the Ukraine 3000 Fund. The Cedars-Sinai Center was represented by Head of the Pediatric Unit at the Pediatric Center Charles Simons and Head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Unit Calvin Hobel.
The topic of the conference was discussing possible cooperation in training medical specialists for the All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health, the Children’s Hospital of the Future. The Cedars-Sinai Center representatives presented a program of international cooperation on training Ukrainian medical specialists at the Center. Ukrainian medical workers were interested in the broad range of educational programs. The special feature of the program suggested by American colleagues is that they train not just individual specialists but a team including nurses. This secures highly effective work and good results due to a well-coordinated action.
The participants agreed to hold a series of similar conferences agreeing the details of concrete educational programs. The first one is scheduled after the contest to select General Designer of the All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health, the Children’s Hospital of the Future, is completed.
The Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is one of the oldest and biggest in the US West. Over 12,000 people receive and treat over 300,000 patients every year.
