Ukraine 3000 Fund Gives APV Equipment to Rivne Oblast Children’s Clinical Hospital
July 5, 2007, representatives of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund with Head of the Fund’s Supervisory Board visited the Rivne Oblast Children’s Clinical Hospital. Among other participants of the event were Deputy Director of the National Amosov Cardiovascular Surgery Institute Vasyl Lazoryshynets, Director of the Hospital to Hospital Program Vira Pavliuk, Head of the Rivne Oblast State Administration Viktor Matchuk, First Deputy Head of the Oblast Council Valentyn Koroliuk, Rivne City Mayor Viktor Chayka, local authorities’ and Ukraine 3000 Fund representatives.
Mrs. Kateryna and Ukraine 3000 Fund representatives visited the Anesthesiology and Newborn’s Intensive Therapy Unit, familiarizing themselves with its work. Chief Physician of the Rivne Oblast Children’s Clinical Hospital Mykhaylo Tomytsky presented the program of neonatal aid and nursing children with critically low birth weight, introduced at the hospital. The guests also visited Newborn’s Pathology Unit.
Kateryna Yushchenko had a brief meeting with doctor’s and medical stuff. Besides, the guests visited some wards, talking to little patients and their parents.
On behalf of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund, Mrs. Yushchenko gave Dr. Tomytsky a set of APV Equipment with total cost UAH 150,000 and toys for the playrooms. She also presented the hospital with an Our Lady icon from the Yushchenko family.
Mrs. Yushchenko called upon Rivne philanthropists and local business to actively support the hospital.
The Rivne Oblast Children’s Clinical Hospital, founded in 1989, is a multiprofile treatment and prevention facility. The hospital provides high-quality specialized, consultative, outpatient, inpatient, planned, and mobile assistance to the Rivne children. Its bed capacity is 375. The consultative clinic can receive 240 patients per one shift. 111 doctors and around 400 paramedics work at the hospital.
The hospital has a great experience of work with international projects. For instance, on the base of the anesthesiology and intensive care department the Ukrainian-American Micromedex Healthcare Series program was introduced. In 2000-2003 the Ukrainian-American Children’s Health Protection Center was functioning as part of the program to improve health of the children from radiation-polluted regions. Neonatologists were taking part in the Birth Defects Prevention Ukrainian-American program. On the base of the oblast clinical diagnosing center, the Prenatal Ultrasonic Markers of the FAC is functioning. The hospital is also cooperating with Switzerland on the Neonatology project.
In 2006, renowned Italian children’s cardio surgeon Vittorio Vanini visited the Rivne Oblast Children’s Clinical Hospital. He hold a number of trainings and consultations for local doctors and invited them for a training in Italy. Rivne specialists are to leave for a six-months training in late 2007.
The Rivne Oblast Children’s Clinical Hospital is member of the Ukraine 3000 Fund’s Hospital to Hospital Program. During 2005-2007 within the framework of this program the hospital has received medical equipment, medicine, toys and books for the playrooms with total costs UAH 18,500.
Besides, four hospital representatives (chief physician, cardiologist, neonatologist, and orthopedic traumatologist) have visited best Texas hospitals, where they have undergone a three-weeks training. This event became possible owing to renowned philanthropist and partner of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Mr. John Wood. In November 2007 another group of four Rivne-based specialists will go for a training to Texas.
Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko and Ukraine 3000 Fund representatives are on a one-day working trip to Western Ukraine. A visit to Lutsk and the Volyn Oblast Children’s Clinical Hospital is also on the agenda.
