Ukraine 3000 Fund Representatives Visited Yevpatoriya Treatment and Rehabilitation Institutions
July 3, 2007, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Kateryna Yushchenko and Fund representatives went for a working trip to Yevpatoriya. Among other members of the delegation were Advisor to the Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Andriy Myroshnichenko and Director of the Hospital to Hospital program Vira Pavliuk.
The guests visited treatment and rehabilitation institutions for children with organic lesions of the central nervous system (cerebral palsy): Chayka Republic Children’s Clinical Resort and Yevpatoriya Central Children’s Clinical Resort at the Defense Ministry of Ukraine.
At the Chayka Republic Children’s Clinical Resort, Mrs. Yushchenko and Ukraine 3000 Fund representatives visited the functional diagnosing room and hydropathic and mud-baths establishment. Besides, Mrs. Kateryna visited the Chervoni Vitryla [Red Sails] department where hippotherapy classes are held.
Chief Physician Oleksandr Kyselenko presented the Commanders’ Council role play game as an example of medical, psychological, and pedagogic rehabilitation method. Little patients described to the guests the game rules and conferred Mrs. Yushchenko honorary rank of Chayka Navy Admiral.
At the Rehabilitation Center for Children with Crebral Palsy and Organic Diseases of the Nervous System, Mrs. Yushchenko and Ukraine 3000 Fund representatives examined the equipment purchased with the funds received by the resort as a winner of the First All-Ukrainian Grant Contest for Treatment and Rehabilitation Institutions for Children with Cerebral Palsy.
On behalf of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund, Kateryna Yushchenko gave the Chayka Republic Children’s Clinical Resort a certificate for a set of gym equipment. The set includes four treadmills, two Gravistat treatment costumes, and four trampolines. The total cost of the equipment is UAH 20,000. It will be delivered by the end of July.
The guests also talked to the patients and their parents and held a brief meeting with the resort staff.
At the Yevpatoriya Central Children’s Clinical Resort at the Defense Ministry of Ukraine, Ukraine 3000 Fund representatives, accompanied by its head Anatoliy Nenka, took a tour of the treatment and diagnosing center, psycho-neurology dormitory, surgery, mother and child department, and children’s recreational area. Besides, the guests talked to the resort management, staff, and patients.
On behalf of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund, Kateryna Yushchenko gave the Yevpatoriya Central Children’s Clinical Resort a certificate for Hippocrates Bio bioresonance therapy apparatus with total cost of UAH 20,000. The equipment will be delivered by the end of July.
The Chayka Republic Children’s Clinical Resort was founded in 1913. It’s a multiprofile treatment institution, featuring cardiorheumatology, orthopedic, pulmonology, nephrology units and a rehabilitation center for children with organic lesions of the central nervous system. The resort can boast a solid diagnosing and treatment base: clinical diagnosing lab, functional diagnosing and ultrasonic examination rooms, hydropathic and mud-baths establishment, physiotherapy unit, physiotherapy exercises room, choreography room, sensor room, etc. Since 2001, as a part of the complex treatment for children with cerebral palsy, the Chayka resort has introduced the hippotherapy method. The resort works the whole year round. At present, 500 children are treated at the resort, 100 of them accompanied by parents.
The Yevpatoriya Central Children’s Clinical Resort at the Defense Ministry of Ukraine was founded in 1920. The resort works the whole year round, with bed capacity of 600. The institution has a vast experience in treatment of children with neurological, locomotorium, and allergic respiratory diseases. In the 85 years of its existence, over 230,000 children have undergone treatment at the resort, with 12,000 surgeries with various level of complexity being performed. A graphic example of the global recognition of its attainments was the decision by the Independent Expert Committee at the European Council to award the resort and its head with Silver Dolphin award in the 21st Centurt Enterprize and 21st Century Manager nominations.
Within the framework of the Joy of the Childhood: Free Movements joint program by the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund and TNK-BP Ukraine Company, the Yevpatoriya Central Children’s Clinical Resort at the Defense Ministry of Ukraine and Chayka Republic Children’s Clinical Resort won the All-Ukrainian Grant Contest for Treatment and Rehabilitation Institutions for Children with Cerebral Palsy. In the First Contest, the Chayka resort received UAH 37,000 for purchasing equipment for the sensor room. By the results of the Second Contest, the Yevpatoriya Central Children’s Clinical Resort at the Defense Ministry of Ukraine received a grant for UAH 45,000 to purchase equipment: Ilizarov apparatus, a set of mechanized general surgery bones instrument, and an endoscope surgery set.
