Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund and MTI Company Unveil Fifth Computer Class
May 29, 2007, the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund and MTI Company unveiled a computer class at the Ternopil Oblast Community General Education Boarding School for Children with Poliomyelitis Consequences or Cerebral Palsy, the fifth computer class within the framework of their joint program.
Among the participants of the event were Head of the Joy of the Childhood: Free Movements program Olena Filon, Head of the MTI Technical Center Oleksandr Iliuto, Head of the Labor and Social Policies Department at the Ternopil Oblast State Administration Mykhailo Ibragimov, Deputy Head of the Education and Science Department at the Ternopil Oblast State Administration Oksana Pikhurko, representatives of the Ternopil Oblast administration and Ternopil city council, and the boarding school faculty and students’ parents.
Due to the costs and equipment allotted by the MTI, a computer class has been set up at the Ternopil Oblast Community General Education Boarding School. The class is equipped with modern computers and peripherals, innovative software, multimedia educational programs explaining how to work on the computer and in the Internet, and comfortable school furniture. MTI experts also undertook to provide technical support for the equipment for one year.
After the class had been consecrated, after a Ternopil tradition, the boarding school students gave a small concert for the guests and presented Ukraine 3000 Fund and MTI representatives with souvenirs – beadwork they made themselves.
The joint project by Ukraine 3000 Fund and MTI Company envisaged equipping with computers five boarding schools in different Ukraine’s regions. The unveiling of the Ternopil computer class was the last action within this project’s framework. Computer classes are already in action at the other four boarding schools for children with disordered motor function.
The first school to be equipped with a computer class was the Kyiv Specialized Boarding School for Children with Poliomyelitis Consequences or Cerebral Palsy No. 15, receiving its first visitors on September 12, 2006. October 10, 2006, Potiyivka Secondary Boarding School for Children with Cerebral Palsy (Zhytomyr Oblast) received its new computers, November 14, 2006, - the Boryslav Specialized Boarding School (Lviv oblast), and May 15, 2007, - the Kostopil Boarding School (Rivne Oblast).
The Ternopil Oblast Community General Education Boarding School for Children with Poliomyelitis Consequences or Cerebral Palsy hosts 106 students aged from 7 to 16, with cerebral palsy, myopathy, heavy scoliosis, other spinal cord and locomotor system diseases.
