Funds Raised at the Benefit Ball in California To Be Used for Training Ukrainian Doctors in the US

February 17, 2007, representatives of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund took part in the annual Benefit Ball organized by the California Association to Aid Ukraine. The event, hosted by the Los Angeles Manhattan Beach Marriott Hotel, was attended by Head of the Board of Directors of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Oleksandr Maksymchuk, Head of the Board of Directors of the Children’s Hospital of the Future Vira Pavliuk, and Director of the NTCU Radio and Television Museum Yuliya Maksymchuk. The guests were received by head of the California Association to Aid Ukraine Luba Keske and its president Anne Prokopovych.

Over 350 people took part in the benefit ball. The guests could make a charitable contribution for implementing the Children’s Hospital of the Future project. Before the start of the ball, its participants viewed a video address by Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Kateryna Yushchenko. Mrs. Yushchenko greeted those present and thanked the CAAU for organizing the ball. “I am very proud of my fellow Ukrainians living in California, who decided today to get together and help gravely ill children in Ukraine,” she said. Mrs. Yushchenko added that the project to create and construct the hospital was gradually consolidating the nation. In mere months the idea of creating the Children’s Hospital of the Future has united Ukrainians in Ukraine, and today Ukrainians from throughout the world are joining them. In four months, almost 260,000,000 hryvnias (roughly $52,000,000) has been collected for the hospital.

The funds, raised in course of the charitable ball, are earmarked to fund training in California for Ukrainian doctors who will work at the Children’s Hospital of the Future and member hospitals of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund’s Hospital to Hospital Program.
