Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund and TNK-BP Ukraine Award Winners of the Grant Contest
January 31, 2007, the Kyivsky President-Hotel hosted an award ceremony of the grant contest among institutions rendering treatment and rehabilitation services to children with cerebral palsy.
Head of the Supervisory Board of Ukraine 3000 Fund Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko, President of TNK-BP Ukraine Serhiy Lizunov, Head of the Board of Directors of Ukraine 3000 Fund Oleksandr Maksymchuk, Head of the Joy of the Childhood – Free Movements program Olena Filon, and representatives of the winning institutions took part in the ceremony.
In her speech Mrs. Yushchenko said, “One of the goals of the Joy of the Childhood – Free Movements program is influencing public opinion regarding the problems of children with special needs and their social integration. (…) We hope that the grants received by the winners will give a chance to create a network of professional treatment and rehabilitation facilities for children with cerebral palsy.”
In his turn, Mr. Lizunov said, “I am glad to see the funds, donated by our company within the framework of the Joy of the Childhood – Free Movements program, benefiting Ukrainian children and their families. We are extremely happy to know that this money is being used for its assigned purpose, goes where it is supposed to go, and is distributed openly and transparently. I congratulate the winners of the contest and wish them every success in their important cause.”
Recall that in September 2006 a grant contest was announced for treatment and rehabilitation centers and institutions for children with cerebral palsy within the framework of the Joy of the Childhood – Free Movements program, with 50 applications being filed by medical, social, psychological, and pedagogical rehabilitation centers, education and rehabilitation centers, boarding schools, sanatoriums, public, and other organizations from all Ukraine’s regions.
November 18, 2006, the contest’s Expert Council announced the 12 winners, namely:
- Mykolayiv Orphanage (Mykolayiv);
- Zakarpattia Oblast Children’s Hospital, Rosynka Rehabilitation Center for Children with Organic Lesions of the Nervous System (Mukacheve, Zakarpattia Oblast);
- Dniprodzerzhynsk City Children’s Hospital (Dniprodzerzhynsk, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast);
- Chayka All-Ukrainian Children’s Clinical Health Center (Yevpatoriya, the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea);
- Nadiya Prylutsk Oblast Orphanage Community Medical and Social Protection Establishment (Pryluky, Chernihiv Oblast);
- Janusz Korczak Institute for Rehabilitation of Mentally and Physically Disabled Persons (Odesa);
- Zhytomyr Central City Children’s Hospital;
- Rehabilitation Center Healthcare Institution at the Vidrodzhennia Center for Medical and Social Rehabilitation of the Disabled Children Public Organization (Chernihiv);
- Ternopil Oblast Communal Children’s Clinical Hospital (Ternopil);
- Khadzhybey Children’s Specialized Clinical Health Center (v. Usatove, Odesa Oblast);
- Sumy Children’s Hospital Community Institution (Sumy);
- First Kharkiv Orphanage (Kharkiv).
The Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund and TNK-BP Company decided to hold such contests twice a year, with winners obtaining funds for improving the performance of their treatment and rehabilitation centers, purchasing new equipment, introducing innovative technologies into treatment and rehabilitation of children with organic lesions of the central nervous system.
