Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Has Held the Children’s Hospital of the Future All-Ukrainian Telethon

December 17, 2006, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Kyiv time, the National Television Company of Ukraine hosted a unique four-hours Children’s Hospital of the Future All-Ukrainian Telethon.

The telethon was broadcasted by the ICTV, Tonis, 24, K1, Fifth Channel, and NTN television channels, as well as, part of the time, Ukrayina Television and Radio Company, New Channel, TET, and 1+1 channels.

The Children’s Hospital of the Future All-Ukrainian Telethon’s was directed by Taras Hrymaliuk.

The telethon featured a presentation of the project to create and construct the Children’s Hospital of the Future and discussion of this project with renowned medical experts, politicians, civil activists, athletes, and artistes. It also summarized the promotional tour of Ukraine’s oblast centers, held from September 29 through December 15, 2006.

The telethon also included live broadcasts from six Ukraine’s oblast centers and discussing their views on the Children’s Hospital of the Future charitable project with representatives from Ukraine’s oblasts: Uzhhorod, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Odesa, and Mykolayiv.

Ukrainian music stars, who have supported the project, had a chance to voice their support and perform one of their songs. Among them were the National Radio Company of Ukraine’s State Symphony Orchestra, INSO Orchestra, Mariya Burmaka, Taras Chubay, Nina Matviyenko, Hanna Koropnychenko, Taras Petrynenko, Tetiana Horobets, Olha Bohomolets, Okean Elzy, Mandry, Druha rika, Haydamaky, Krykhitka Tsakhes, Tartak, Esthetic Education, VV, Ray horodok groups.

The Children’s Hospital of the Future project has been supported by all Ukraine’s mobile operators. Starting October 1, 2006, subscribers of the UMC, KyivStar, Golden Telecom, Life:), and Beeline companies can make their donations sending an SMS to or dialing 353. This way they transfer UAH 5 ($1) to the Children’s Hospital of the Future account. From October 1 to December 16, 2006, 1.5 million hryvnias ($ 300,000) have been donated by Ukrainians for creation and construction of the Children’s Hospital of the Future  through the 353 telephone number.

In course of the four-hours-long telethon, another  UAH 900,000 have been transferred to the Children’s Hospital of the Future account through this number. Thus, by the end of the telethon, the total of UAH 2,400,000 had been collected through SMS and calls to the 353 mobile number.

In course of the telethon, philanthropists had got a chance to make public their participation in  creation and construction of the Children’s Hospital of the Future. The following organizations and individuals have declared their intent to get involved into the project’s implementation:

• The Industrial Alliance of the Donbas Corporation – UAH 75,750,000;
• The Development of Ukraine Charitable Fund – UAH 64,640,000;
• The Interpipe Corporation – UAH 50,500,000;
• The Finance and Credit Bank, AvtoKrAZ Company, and Arterium Pharmaceuticals – UAH 10,100,000;
• Anonymous – UAH 15,150,000;
• Borys Kolesnikov – UAH 7,575,000;
• Anonymous – UAH 5,050,000;
• Transbank Joint Stock Commercial Bank – UAH 5,050,000;
• James Temerty – 5,050,000;
• Zaporizhstal Public Corporation – UAH 5,000,000;
• Oleksandr Yaroslavsky – UAH 1,000,000;
• Donetskstal-Metalurh Closed Corporation – UAH 750,000.

In total, UAH 242,954,000 had been raised by the end of the Children’s Hospital of the Future All-Ukrainian Telethon.
