The Children's Hospital of the Future Project Presented to Khmelnytsky Doctors
November 10, 2006, the Khmelnytsky Oblast Children’s Hospital hosted a presentation of the Children's Hospital of the Future Project to Khmelnytsky medical professionals. Head of the Board of Directors of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Oleksandr Maksymchuk, Honorary President of the Transbank JSCB and member of the Supervisory Board of the Children's Hospital of the Future Charitable Fund Volodymyr Kosterin, Director of the Hospital to Hospital Program Vira Pavliuk, and Coordinator of the Today Area Olena Skorykova took part in the said event.
More than twenty renowned Khmelnytsky Oblast doctors were present at the meeting. Ms. Pavliuk presented to them the project to create the Children's Hospital of the Future in Kyiv.
Volodymyr Kosterin said in his address to the audience that he supports the Fund’s idea to discuss the project for creating and constructing the Children's Hospital of the Future in Kyiv with experts from various Ukraine’s regions before starting to implement it. He also said that all proposals by doctors from various oblasts are being considered and discussed.
After the presentation a discussion took place. Deputy Head of the Khmelnytsky Health Care Administration Tetiana Posolska said that this project as an important event in Ukraine’s history. She expressed her hopes that permanent cooperation between the future hospital and the regions would improve the skills of not only its medical staff but also their counterparts in the country. Ms. Posolska also mentioned the importance of putting a strong emphasis on cardiac surgery and a perinathal center for pre-birth medicine.
Among other issues under discussion was treatment of hereditary diseases: diabetes and genetic diseases. Besides, Khmelnytsky-based doctors proposed to create a prosthetic department at the hospital for children with solid extremities tumors.
