The Project to Create and Construct Children’s Hospital of the Future Presented in Khmelnytsky
November 10, 2006, the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund presented the project to create and construct the Children's Hospital of the Future at the Khmelnytsky Oblast Children’s Clinical Hospital. Head of the Board of Directors of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Oleksandr Maksymchuk, Honorary President of the Transbank JSCB Volodymyr Kosterin, Studiya 1+1 Channel host Yuri Makarov, and Director for Public Relations of Procter & Gamble Ukraine Vitaly Prokopenko took part in the presentational press conference.
In his speech, Mr. Maksymchuk described the idea of creating the Children’s Hospital of the Future. He said that, having analyzed the situation in hospitals and Ukrainian children’s need for treatment of complicated pathologies and diseases, the Fund decided to build the Children’s Hospital of the Future, which would allow our state to take care of children who are now compelled to seek treatment abroad. Mr. Maksymchuk added that reliable partners representing Ukrainian business and mass media are working with the Fund on the project, expressing his hope that every Ukraine’s citizen would join them.
Mr. Makarov referred to the project as a “positive example of using charity technologies existing in the contemporary world (…) The project is adequately structured, with its implementers declaring and demonstrating transparency, fairness, and openness.” In Mr. Makarov’s view, creating the hospital is a project, comprehensible, necessary, and open for all Ukrainians, able not only to become a factor in uniting Ukraine, but also improve the general situation in our society. “Our TV channel supports this project, and I call upon other media outlets to join this action. Implementing a project of this scale is impossible without due media support,” stressed Mr. Makarov.
Mr. Kosterin said the project to create and construct the Children's Hospital of the Future, in his view, would trigger necessary improvements and reforms in both healthcare sector and Ukrainian legislation. Mr. Kosterin emphasized that the Transbank, taking part in the project from the very beginning, views the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund as a reliable partner.
Vitaly Prokopenko stressed that the Children's Hospital of the Future in Kyiv is an example of fruitful cooperation between business and charitable organizations. “I am sure this project will be successfully implemented,” he stressed. Mr. Prokopenko also told the audience about the cooperation between Procter & Gamble Ukraine and Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund within the framework of the Hospital to Hospital program. For instance, today the partners presented to the Khmelnytsky Oblast Children’s Clinical Hospital equipment for the Newborn Intensive Care Unit totaling over UAH 400,000 ($80,000). Similar equipment has been donated to the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast Children’s Clinical Hospital. Mr. Prokopenko expressed his hope for further fruitful cooperation between Procter & Gamble Ukraine and Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund
After the press conference its participants met with Khmelnytsky oblast doctors and business leaders. In addition, the first founding meeting of the Supervisory Board at the Khmelnytsky Oblast Children’s Clinical Hospital was held.
These events were part of the promotional tour of Ukraine’s oblast centers to present and raise funds for the project on creating and constructing the Children's Hospital of the Future. The project was launched on September 29, 2006, in Lviv and earlier was presented in Sumy, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Poltava, Donetsk, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Vinnytsia.
The construction of the All-Ukrainian Health Protection Center for Mothers and Children (the Children’s Hospital of the Future) is envisaged by the Cabinet Decision No. 722 of May 25, 2006, and Clause 17 of the Universal of National Unity.
