First Lady opens exhibition for disabled children
Kateryna Yushchenko opened an exhibition for children with particular needs “The Right to Rejoice.” It features toys and devices objects that help disabled children and teenagers enjoy everyday life: go to kindergarten and school, do sports and engage in many other activities.
Having thanked the Embassy of Sweden in Ukraine for holding such a wonderful event, Mrs. Yushchenko said: “I dream of seeing everything we see today in Ukraine. I want all our citizens with particular needs to have such things not to feel inferior. I hope this dream will one day come true, for it is not only my dream but the dream of many people in this country. I am sure it will come true if we all work together.”
Jon-Christer Olander, Swedish Ambassador, Yuriy Pavlenko, Ukraine’s Youth and Sports Minister, and Valeriy Sushkevych, President of the National Paralympic Committee, attended the exhibition.
The exhibition will also be helpful and interesting to teachers working with disabled children. Swedish teachers will hold seminars for their Ukrainian colleagues to make their work more effective.
