Ukraine 3000 and TNK-BP present equipment to cancer institute

The Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation and TNK-BP Ukraine presented medical equipment and medications,  worth UAH 1 mln, to the children’s department of the Cancer Institute.

Kateryna Yushchenko, Head of the Supervisory Council of Ukraine 3000, expressed sincere gratitude to TNK-BP for their charitable donation and “for sharing our understanding of common responsibility for the future of Ukrainian society.”

“New Year and Christmas are coming, and this charitable event will be an example of philanthropy for many other Ukrainian and foreign companies,” she said.

In his speech, Oleksandr Gorodetsky, President of TNK-BP Ukraine, stressed that “by this event the company is taking one more step in the implementation of its corporate responsibility program, which will be fully introduced in the beginning of 2006. It will be based on our commitment to social responsibility, and we will regard all projects funded by TNK-BP Ukraine as investments in the future of Ukraine.”

At a press conference prior to the event, Andriy Myroshnychenko, Adviser to the Head of the Supervisory Council of Ukraine 3000, noted that “the improvement of health care for Ukrainian children is one of their priorities.”

“We always emphasize that by conducting such joint events we do not donate money or equipment but save lives of Ukrainian children,” he added.

Grygoriy Klymnyuk, Chief Children’s Oncologist of Ukraine, said 45 children with malignant cancer were currently undergoing medical treatment at the institute. In Ukraine, there are more than a thousand of such children. The presented equipment will help diagnose and treat children in accordance with modern standards and also make their stay at the facility shorter.

This joint project is the first charitable initiative of Ukraine 3000 and TNK-BP Ukraine. Together with their partner, The International Clinic for Rehabilitative Treatment of Children with Nervous Disorders of the Health Ministry of Ukraine, they plan to implement a four-year project with an annual budget of UAH 4 mln. This unique multifaceted program, The Joy of Childhood: Free Movements, will be launched to render medical, diagnostic and rehabilitative aid to children with disorders of the central nervous system.
