The first part of the display presents photographs by children from boarding houses in Kyiv and Kyiv oblast. The second part of the display is a photo-account on the Ukrainian leg of the international youth media contest (video, photos, and slogans), conducted as part of the My European City campaign in 15 European countries.

Speaking about the Children’s Hospital of the Future Project, Mr. Maksymchuk recalled that the creation of the All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health had been initiated by the state. “The Foundation supported the government’s initiative and called upon the community and business to join this great national project,” he said.

In course of the event, Mr. Jerzy Onuch announced the start of a new joint action by the Polish Institute in Kyiv and Ukrainian Center for Museum Development – a competition for Ukrainioan museum workers, prepared to implement innovative Ukrainian-Polish projects. The winners of the Third Doing Good Starts with You Charitable Projects Competition are 12 children’s and junior groups from 10 Ukraine’s oblasts. Another 20 projects became its laureates. All winners and laureates received diplomas and money prizes: UAH 5,000 for the first place, 3,000 for the second, 2,000 for the third, and 1,000 for the laureates.

In course of the event folk masters, experts in making traditional Yavoriv toys, will give master classes for children. They will tell them about the history and importance of this wooden toys which is more than 400 years old and reveal the secrets of its technology and making. The kids will have a go at painting wooden pieces.

This year’s Cannes Film Festival will take place May 12-23. It is most significant for Ukraine, since for the first time the festival’s program features two Ukrainian films. Among the 18 films in competition is Serhiy Loznytsia’s Shchastia moye [My Happiness] (Ukraine, Germany, the Netherlands), and in the Special program – Otar Ioseliani’s Shantrapa [Hoodlums] (Ukraine, France).
