Purchasing medical equipment for the Odesa Oblast Children’s Hospital has become possible owing to the funds allotted by the Promtovarny Rynok Ltd., whose Director General is member of the Board of Trustees at the Odesa Oblast Children’s Hospital Viktor Dobriansky. The equipment is planned to be put to work at the hospital’s ICU by the end of this year.

The event had gathered together around 150 doctors of various specialties, head managers of patient care institutions, IT specialists, and everybody interested in propagating telemedicine in Europe, Asia, and America.

In total, four proposals were submitted: from DIQ Private Enterprise, Ukrtelemed Ltd., Astra-Med State Enterprise, and BTL Ukrayina Ltd. All four bids were admitted to the competition.

“I assure you that I, personally, along with my husband and the Ukraine 3000 Fund I head, as well as the whole conscious patriotic Ukrainian community, will do everything to bring back from oblivion every soul killed in the famine,” Mrs. Yushchenko said.

In course of the meeting, Mrs. Yushchenko told Mr. Ordzhonikidze about major areas of the Ukraine 3000 Fund activities. She presented the completed and current project carried by the Fund jointly with the UN organizations, in part, the Global Educational Summit in Artek and the Living Heritage Treasury project.

Addressing the audience, Mrs. Yushchenko tendered her thanks to all the exhibition organizers. “By creating this exhibition we wanted to familiarize the European audience with this tragic page of Ukraine’s history,” she said. “Today, the issue of the Manmade Famine has evoked a wide response from the global community.”

In course of the meeting Mrs. Yushchenko told Ms. Arbour about the work of the Ukraine 3000 Fund. She presented the Fund’s programs and projects in the areas of medicine, education, and culture. She also described the joint projects by the Fund and the UN system. Besides, Mrs. Yushchenko mentioned the major goal of her visit to Geneva, the unveiling of the Executed by Famine: the Unknown Genocide of the Ukrainians exhibition at the city Municipal Library.

The participants of the meeting discussed the results of signing the Memorandum on Mutual Understanding between the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund and United Nations Office in Ukraine. They also approved the concept of the Global Educational Summit and the Third Human Rebirth, Renewal, and Development International Forum, which in 2008 will be dedicated to the dialog between generations.

Accompanied by the Center’s Director Mrs. Helena Petku Mrs. Yushchenko took a tour of the Center’s premises and talked to the children staying there. The Center hosts 21 children aged up to 19 years. To honor the distinguished guest, the children gave a small concert.

The guests familiarized themselves with the museum collection, visited the traditional icon display and an exhibition of folk arts works donated to the museum by the Romanian Ukrainian community.

The total sum of the SMART-HOLDING Closed JSC’s charitable aid to the All-Ukrainian center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health, the Children’s Hospital of the Future project, according to the donation agreement, will be $4,000,000, or UAH 20,200,000 according to the official dollar rate, set by the National Bank of Ukraine as for today.
