
Kateryna Yushchenkpo Presents Peter Lik’s Living Pictures to Orphaned Children

January 15, 2010, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko took part in a beneficial action for orphaned children.
The event was hosted by the Mystetsky Arsenal museum center. Around 100 wards of orphanages, boarding schools, and vocational schools took part in the event along with President of the Friends of the Children Charitable Foundation Maryna Krysa, Director General of the Nemiroff Company Group Alla Hlus, and Director General of Mystetsky Arsenal Ihor Didkovsky.
The participants of the action toured the Living Pictures display by Australian photo artist Peter Lik. The talented self-educated photographer presented his artistic view of the world, becoming one of the most renowned leaders in the art of photography. Lik’s landscape impress one with the variety of colors and makes one to see the world in a new light.
“Organizing this event, we wanted to make you a Christmas present,” Mrs. Yushchenko said, addressing the children. “We often get absorbed with our problems and worries, forgetting about the beauty around us. We wanted you to see this beauty and get involved into it.”
«The man whose work we will see today is not just a photographer. He is an artist, seeking the beauty and conveying it to you,” Mrs. Kateryna said. “I would be happy if you, too, grew up to become artists. My dream is that, years later, I would visit your exhibitions.”
The organizers of the Living Pictures exhibition gave each child a photo camera. They announced a best photo contest among the children participating in today’s action. The competition will continue till March 15, when the works will be collected by organizers and the best of them put on display.
The participants of the event also visited the Christmas show prepared by wards of the Otchiy dim [Father’s House] charitable foundation.
Peter Lik’s “Living Pictures” are on display at the Mystetsky Arsenal museum center as part of a big art project, including also The Tree of Ukraine exhibition of Scythian gold, Ivano-Frankivsk-based artist Roman Bonchuk’s majestic Chronicle of Ukraine, and Svaroh’s Circle exhibition by sculptor Anatoly Kushch. The works are on display till March 19, 2010.
