
Kateryna Yushchenko Visits Warsaw University’s Library

September 7, 2009, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko visited Warsaw University’s library. Also took part in the event wife of the President of Poland Maria Kaczynska and wife of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine in Poland Nataliya Terletska.
Accompanied by the library director Ewa Kobierska-Maciuszko, the guests toured the library. The unique building, specially constructed for working with books, has several floors and a glass roof. The access to the books is free for all visitors. An electronic catalogue allows finding necessary literature by its respective code. The library also offers free internet access.
Mrs. Yushchenko visited the blackletter books and manuscripts department. She viewed books and documents related to Ukrainian history and familiarized herself with the legacy of Karol Schymanowski, renowned Ukrainian-born Polish composer.
Mrs. Kateryna presented to the library a copy of the old map of Ukraine and a Hutsul plate.
Mrs. Yushchenko is accompanying her husband, President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko, on his state visit to Poland. Earlier she had visited the Institute of Mother and Child in Warsaw.
